These four works, composed between 1950 and the present day, highlight the expressive, warm and often peremptory character of the trumpet. Alexander Arutiunian’s Concerto is one of the most frequently performed, while Ernest Bloch’s Proclamation and the Concerto by Canadian Jacques Hétu are worth discovering. John Estacio’s Concerto, created for the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation, appears here in its world-premiere recording.
