Marvin Gaye Live!, a 1974 album from Marvin Gaye, is getting reissued. A new, digital deluxe edition of the album has been announced, pulling together Gaye’s complete Oakland show performance for the first time. It will be released on March 28.

Marvin Gaye was an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He helped to shape the sound of Motown in the 1960s, first as an in-house session player and later as a solo artist with a string of hits, earning him the nicknames "Prince of Motown" and "Prince of Soul".

In celebration of the Golden Anniversary of the iconic Marvin Gaye album “Let’s Get It On,” Motown/UMe is releasing digitally a revised and expanded “Let’s Get It On: Deluxe Edition” on August 25, the day before the album’s original release date in 1973 fifty years prior. Featuring a fascinating trove of 33 bonus tracks, 18 of them previously unreleased, the Prince of Soul’s creative explorations continued to unfold with the production of this pivotal release. Collectively, the bonus material leans into the story of Gaye’s multi-layered personal struggles during the album’s creation. To honor this milestone, a “Let’s Get It On” event will take place at the GRAMMY Museum on August 23 featuring Smokey Robinson, Jimmy Jam, and Marvin Gaye biographer David Ritz. Get tickets here.

Over the course of his career Marvin Gaye was a one-man hit machine, placing 67 of his songs on the Billboard charts. Forty-one songs broke the top 40, 18 made it to top 10 and three songs went all the way to number one. This package includes several of those charted hits and is a starting point in building an essential Marvin Gaye collection.

Marvin Gaye’s outtakes from his 1972 soundtrack Trouble Man make their vinyl debut, in a new album called More Trouble. It collects tracks from Trouble Man’s recording sessions, including an unedited version of ‘“T” Plays It Cool’ and an extended version of the titular song.While the recordings were previously released on CD as part of Trouble Man’s 40th anniversary, More Trouble marks the first time they’ve been available on vinyl.

Marvin Gaye Graced with an extraordinary voice, complex personality, musical genius, and a backstory worthy of a Hollywood movie, Marvin Gaye wasn't your average soul singer. Born in Washington on the 2nd of April in 1939, the now legendary singer began his career singing at church at the age of four, accompanied by his father on piano. Marvin's mother was a supportive figure who encouraged her son to pursue music, and once he got to high school, he joined various doo-wop groups. By contrast, Marvin's father was a violent man who would regularly beat his son, and this pushed Marvin to join the U.S air force once he had completed his schooling. He quickly became disillusioned with the forces however, and faked madness in order to be discharged. Back in Washington, Marvin Gaye started the Marquees with his best friend, Reese Palmer. The band made quite a buzz, and found itself working with Bo Diddley, who managed to secure them a contract at OKeh records, a sub-division of Columbia.
