Maxim Vengerov: Living The Dream (2007)

Violinist Maxim Vengerov is joined by Virtuosi, an ensemble of 11 violins lead by Mikhail Parhomovksy. 'This is above all a fun record - even more than most collections of violin lollipops a disc for those with a very sweet tooth… Here is a young violinist at the peak of his form enjoying himself from first to last in music undemanding on the ear if not the technique, outrageously showing off in a way that for most will be very endearing. Not that the playing is extrovert all the time… 'Meditationi' from Massenet's Thais conveys a rare depth of feeling, making it more than just a lyrical interlude.

Slash first collaborated with Myles Kennedy when the singer was one of many guests on 2010's Slash album. In the years since, the duo have become bandmates, and their creative partnership continued over the course of two more solo albums. Along with Todd Kerns, Brent Fitz and Frank Sidoris (aka The Conspirators), they've release Apocalyptic Love and World on Fire, and the band improves with each release. Uriah Heep are releasing their anticipated brand new studio album - the 25th in their storied career - which will be titled, appropriately enough, Living The Dream . "We have been together for 47 years and we have seen many bands come and go, so in effect we are Still Living The Dream, so it was the perfect title for the new album, says Uriah Heep guitarist and founding member Mick Box. Famed Canadian engineer, Jay Ruston has been called in to produce the album. Mick continues: We chose Jay because we admire his work with The Winery Dogs, Stone Sour, Black Star Riders, Paul Gilbert, and Europe. Jay has either produced, mixed or both for these bands, and he brought a fresh approach to Heep.
