Truth be told, the vast majority of black metal artists are no more harmful than Vincent Price and Edgar Allan Poe were; they might be fascinated with the dark side and talk about it convincingly, but they aren't really living the evil they focus on. Mayhem, however, are another matter; the bandmembers took their obsession with evil and darkness to the extreme in the 1990s, when a murder, a suicide, an act of cannibalism, and a variety of satanic, anti-Christian activity all became part of the Norwegian headbangers' disturbing history…
Reflecting a recent trend among veteran heavy metal bands, the present-day members of Finland's Amorphis decided to re-record their early work on 2010's Magic and Mayhem (Tales from the Early Years), but at least their motivation was celebrating a 20th anniversary instead of making a quick buck…
The infamous MAYHEM return this year with an EP called “Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando” that presents the band in a way that has never been heared before! The lords of darkness have dug deep and reflected their influences to create a musical odyssey that shows them multifaceted in several ways. For this goal, cover versions of bands like Discharge, Dead Kennedys, Rudimentary Peni and Ramones were chosen, which in typical MAYHEM manner impressively fit into their bursting and darkenened sound. Nevertheless, MAYHEM would not be MAYHEM, if this musical creation would do without own composed songs. In addition to named cover versions, a brand new track called “Voces Ab Alta” was recorded to continue the musical journey alongside previously released tracks “Black Glass Communion” and “Everlasting Dying Flame”, which were used as bonus tracks for the 2019 album “Daemon”.
This live album was recorded at a performance at the Rainbow Club in Milan, Italy in November 1998. The line-up features original Mayhem vocalist Maniac, plus Hellhammer on drums, Necrobutcher on bass & Blasphemer on guitar. The show also features a guest appearance by now-current Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar on the track "From the Dark Past". With a crystal clear sound & the noticeably stunning drum work of Hellhammer, the band themselves considered this worthy of being labelled an official release, as Mayhem storm through a strong set full of classics from old releases "Deathcrush" & "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", to the post-Euronymous compositions as featured on "Wolf's Lair Abyss". Expect nothing but dark & chaotic black metal carnage.
The Muppet Show: Music, Mayhem, and More is a Muppets soundtrack/compilation album released in 2002 by Rhino and Jim Henson Home Entertainment. Its release commemorates the 25th anniversary of The Muppet Show. Although the disc is considered a Muppet Show and Muppets soundtrack collection, it includes two tracks that originated on Sesame Street ("Mahna Mahna" and "Bein' Green").
This was the last Muppet album produced before The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of the Muppets in 2004; since then Muppet albums have been released by Walt Disney Records.
This album won't supplant Double Live Gonzo! in the record collections of Nugent fans, and it certainly won't win him any new listeners, but just like 2008's Sweden Rocks (and his previous two studio albums), it's evidence that even as he persists in his obnoxious right-wing crankitude on cable talk shows and in print, when the Nuge straps on his Gibson, he can still lay waste to an audience. This July 4, 2008, show, recorded before a rapturous hometown crowd, is a greatest-hits run-through with a few surprises and a version of then-new single "Love Grenade," but the current rhythm section – bassist Greg Smith and drummer Mick Brown – gives the old songs a visceral kick, and Nugent's leads and solos scream and sting as powerfully as ever…
