Melina

Very young, Mélina Tobiana showed great interest in singing. After 12 years of classical piano studies at the Conservatoire National d'Aubervilliers La Courneuve, she enrolled at the I.A.C.P and learned jazz singing for 2 years. She followed classes of vocal improvisation, hear-training, scenic expression and perfected his vocal technique.

Melina Merkouri was a charismatic artist. She became well known to international audiences from the multi-awarded film "Never on Sunday" (1960) of Jules Dassin where she was singing the popular homonymous song by Manos Hadjidakis. Melina had a brilliant career as actress, singer but also as politician (first female Minister for Culture of Greece in 1981). This wonderful album is a collection of songs from Melina's cinema roles with music of famous composers like Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Georges Moustaki, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Stavros Xarhakos and others.
