Of all the classical song cycles, Schubert's 'Winterreise' is perhaps the most beloved.

Erich Wolfgang Korngold was a child prodigy whose early genius was recognized and admired by the likes of Gustav Mahler and Giacomo Puccini.

Chapman was born in Hunslet, Leeds, Yorkshire, England. He attended art college in Leeds and then worked as an art and photography teacher at Bolton College, Lancashire. At the time he was playing mostly jazz guitar standards as he was heavily influenced by American jazz performers. Listening to other English guitar players such as Ralph McTell, Chapman evolved his own distinctive style of playing incorporating jazz, folk & ragtime stylings.He first appeared on the London and Cornwall folk music circuits in 1967, including the Piper's Folk Club in Penzance, alongside John Martyn and Roy Harper. His first album was Rainmaker in 1969. The producer was Gus Dudgeon who also produced records by Elton John, David Bowie, Steeleye Span and many others. Rainmaker was released on the EMI progressive label Harvest and Chapman played the folk and progressive circuits during the festivals of the early 1970s, with Mick Ronson, Rick Kemp and Keef Hartley.

La-La Land Records, MGM en the Michael Kamen Estate hebben deze week Michael Kamen's score voor Road House uitgebracht. Dit ter ere van de 30ste verjaardag van deze film. Patrick Swayze en Sam Elliott schitterde als 2 buitenwippers in deze actie film. De vrouwelijke hoofdrol werd vertolkt door Kelly Lynch, de regie lag in handen van Rowdy Herrington. Muziek staat centraal in Road House. In de bar, The Double Deuce, was the Jeff Healey band de vaste muziekband. Voor de ondersteunde score werd beroep gedaan op componist Michael Kamen (Lethal Weapon 1-4, Die Hard 1-3, The Last Boy Scout). Kamen's actiemuziek spat tijdens de vechtscenes van het scherm af. Deze nieuwe versie bevat de ontbrekende tracks die op de vorige release niet aanwezig waren. De soundtrack is expanded en remastered, geproduceerd door Neil S. Bulk in samenwerking met het Michael Kamen Estate. Doug Schwartz zorgde voor de mastering In totaal zullen er 2000 exemplaren verkrijgbaar zijn.

Andru Chapman These two albums are part of a clutch of albums Michael made when he was between record companies and which he recorded for his own production company Rural Retreat Records. Rural Retreat West Virginia, on the old Virgin Creeper Line, was the subject of one of O.Winston Link's famous "train" pics of whom MC is a huge fan. We made the pilgrimage on one of our US road trips hence the name.
