Middle Range Theory For Nursing, Fifth Edition

This introduction to Linear Algebra and Group Theory will, it is hoped, serve as a stepping stone to students of Physics, in particular of Theoretical Physics and possibly also of Mathematics, who wish to pur- sue advanced study and research. The first few chapters on elementary Group Theory and Linear Vector Spaces are included to make the book self-contained and mayaIso be used as instructional material for grad- uate and under-graduate classes. Since there are several good books on application of Group Theory to Physical Problems, the emphasis here is almost entirely on the theory which is presented with enough care and detail to enable the student to acquire a reasonably sound grasp of the fundamentals.

This book introduces systematically the eigenfunction method, a new approach to the group representation theory which was developed by the authors in the 1970's and 1980's in accordance with the concept and method used in quantum mechanics.

It has been gratifying to see how cryptography and number theory have helped each other over the last twenty-five years. :'-Jumber theory has been the source of numerous clever ideas for implementing cryptographic systems and protocols while cryptography has been helpful in getting funding for this area which has sometimes been called "the queen of mathematics" because of its seeming lack of real world applications.
