Released eight years after the original and set three years later, the Disney animated musical Moana 2 returns composer Mark Mancina and composer/songwriter Opetaia Foa'i to the fold but replaces Pulitzer Prize-winning songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda with Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear. At the time of its release in November 2024, this made Barlow and Bear the youngest songwriting team and the first female songwriting team to write for a Disney film.

Moana: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack to the 2016 Disney animated film Moana. The soundtrack was released by Walt Disney Records on November 19, 2016. It features songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa'i, with lyrics in English, Samoan, Tokelauan language and 'An Innocent Warrior' with lyrics in Tuvalu. The two-disc deluxe edition includes the score, which was composed by Mancina, as well as demos, outtakes and instrumental karaoke tracks. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at number 16 and peaked at number 2, kept off the top spot by The Weeknd's Starboy. "How Far I'll Go" was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Moana is a 2009 Italian biographical dramatic miniseries directed by Alfredo Peyretti. The miniseries premiered at the 2009 Roma Fiction Fest, then it was broadcasted in two parts in December 1 and 2 of the same year on Sky Cinema. Moana tells the life of Italian iconic pornographic actress Moana Pozzi. The actress Ilona Staller sued the production of the film for the un-authorizated use of the character "Cicciolina", of which she owned the rights; the case was finally dismissed by court.

Disney takes us back to the sea for an adventure about home, tradition and growing up. Composed by the Samoan musician Opetaia Foa’i, Mark Mancina (who helped put a South African spin on Elton John’s songs for The Lion King), and Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda, the movie’s soundtrack is an uplifting mix of Disney storytelling and traditional Oceanian music, sung both in English and the Polynesian language of Tokelau. It also features beautiful performances by Hawaiian actress Auli’i Cravalho, who voices the film’s heroine, Moana.
