Mobys 19. Studioalbum Reprise erscheint beim altehrwürdigen Klassiklabel Deutsche Grammophon: Hier transformiert der Elektronik-Produzent die Erfolge seiner Karriere nämlich in Orchester- und Akustikstücke, die teils mit dem Budapest Art Orchestra eingespielt wurden. Der Dancefloor-Charakter der Songs wird damit stark zurückgefahren, stattdessen schält Moby mit seinen neuen Arrangements die darunterliegenden Emotionen heraus.

Moby's latest album Reprise - Remixes is now available as a Mintpack CD. The booklet contains personal quotes from all the remixers involved, as well as from Moby himself. Reprise - Remixes conquers a borderland where electronic and acoustic sounds meet. The album will be released on May 20, 2022 by Deutsche Grammophon, just in time for the anniversary of Moby's first disc, released in 1992.

The two guitar-based, pseudo-hardcore punk songs on EVERYTHING IS WRONG whetted Moby's appetite for destruction enough to yield ANIMAL RIGHTS, an album that is chock-full of guitars. Although ANIMAL RIGHTS is book-ended by two melancholy acoustic guitar and violin duets ("Now I Let it Go" and "Love Song for My Mother"), the rest of the record contains the kind of raucous and loud music Moby made with the obscure punk band the Vatican Commandos. Fans of Moby's ambient work might not find this record as appealing as those who favor Moby's aggressive side. However, it might be hard for anyone to resist the hard soloing on songs like the Prince-meets-Minor Threat thrash-fest "Come on Baby" or the slam-fests that are "Someone to Love," "Heavy Flow," and "You." "Soft" and "Say it's All Mine" bring the pace down for a few moments to allow those slam-dancing in their bedrooms to rest for a moment. "Face it" could almost pass for a Black Sabbath cover. The excellent "That's When I Reach for My Revolver" is a Mission of Burma cover.

Moby Grape '69 is the third album by the psychedelic rock band Moby Grape. It is the first album after the departure of co-founder Skip Spence. Spence nonetheless is heard on one song, "Seeing", presumably from the Wow/Grape Jam sessions, and positioned as the final song on Moby Grape '69. As Peter Lewis describes the album, "We made Moby Grape '69, in an attempt to rebound from the Wow album, which was over-produced. And it's a cool album. Although we could have rehearsed it a little more, we still believed in it. But I think we were waiting for Skippy to come back, and he never did." The album peaked at a disappointing number 113 on the Billboard chart. While it did not sell well at the time of its release, in a recent (2008) review, it is pointed out that the album would be particularly appreciated by persons who like the music of Poco and The Eagles. For Moby Grape fans at the time, the album was perhaps too country in musical orientation. In some respects, the album was ahead of its time, predating the more popular first country rock releases by Poco and The Eagles.

Moby Releases New Album Ambient 23.The 16-track release was recorded using “weird old drum machines and old synths”. Moby is starting off 2023 with the release a new album. Earlier this month, he took to social media to announce that he was finishing up a new album called Ambient 23 with a release date of January 1, and, true to his word, the producer has unveiled the new album. According to his social media post, Ambient 23 was recorded using “weird old drum machines and old synths” and is “inspired by… early ambient heroes,” including Martyn Ware, Brian Eno, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Will Sergeant. In a separate update, posted on the day of the release, Moby wrote: “Made to help anxiety (my own, and hopefully yours, too). For 2023, may we all be less anxious (and may we all stop looking for validation from a culture we don’t respect…).” Ambient 23 follows Reprise, an album of early Moby songs recorded with updated orchestral arrangements. In August 2022, he tapped Serpentwithfeet for the collaborative song “On Air.”
