The book provides the readers an overview on the latest findings and new challenges in fluid dynamics in porous media, thus making them appealing to a multidisciplinary audience, including mathematicians, engineers, physicists, and computational scientists.

This book addresses cutting-edge topics in robotics and related technologies for rehabilitation, covering basic concepts and providing the reader with the information they need to solve various practical problems. Intended as a reference guide to the application of robotics in rehabilitation, it covers e.g. musculoskeletal modelling, gait analysis, biomechanics, robotics modelling and simulation, sensors, wearable devices, and the Internet of Medical Things.

This book is dedicated to computer simulation and mathematical modelling approaches in the quantitative analysis of the diffusive processes in physical, chemical, biological, and geological systems. This book was prepared as a Final Publication of the COST Action IC1406 “High-Performance Modelling and Simulation for Big Data Applications (cHiPSet)“ project.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-workshop proceedings of the 4th International Workshop on Modelling and Simulation for Autonomous Systems, MESAS 2017, held in Rome, Italy, , in October 2017.
The 33 revised full papers included in the volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 38 submissions. They are organized in the following topical sections: M&S of Intelligent Systems – AI, R&D and Applications; Autonomous Systems in Context of Future Warfare and Security – Concepts, Applications, Standards and Legislation; Future Challenges and Opportunities of Advanced M&S Technology.

This book consists of eight chapters, five of which provide a summary of the tutorials and workshops organised as part of the cHiPSet Summer School: High-Performance Modelling and Simulation for Big Data Applications Cost Action on “New Trends in Modelling and Simulation in HPC Systems,” which was held in Bucharest (Romania) on September 21–23, 2016. As such it offers a solid foundation for the development of new-generation data-intensive intelligent systems.
