Essentially, the 2007 release Queen Rock Montreal is the long-delayed official release of the soundtrack to the We Will Rock You concert video, capturing highlights from the group's two-night stand at the Montreal Forum on November 24 and 25, 1981. This double-disc contains the full set, including the previously unreleased "Flash" and "The Hero," and it benefits from the ebb and flow of a full concert, giving a broader, fuller sense of Queen at the peak of their power, which they were close to being at the time this was recorded. That is, they were close to the peak of their powers as world-conquering stadium rockers, touring the same set across the globe, perfecting it so it could play in any territory, as if it was rock & roll Esperanto.

Maneige is an old band from Quebec (Canada) with an interesting instrumental prog-jazz-fusion style. The best albums were released between 1975 and 1978. In the late 1990s, Live Montreal 1974-1975 was issued featuring recordings from the early version of the band, including the side-long "Le Rafiot" from their first album, as well as the unreleased "1-2-3-4-5-6".

Emerson, Lake & Palmer had just released the then-current two-volume Works album in 1977 when the group embarked on a major tour behind it, accompanied by a 70-piece orchestra. Travelling and touring with a large orchestra, however, proved to be a financial nightmare, and the orchestra ended up on-stage with ELP on only a handful of the tour dates, including the final stop of the tour in Montreal - in the largest stadium the band ever played in. The show was recorded and filmed (a film of the concert, Emerson, Lake & Palmer in Concert, was released in 1979), but the band was ending its run together, having become three musicians pulling in three different creative directions. The audio portion of the concert appeared in 1993 as Works Live, and this two-disc issue features the same tracks in slightly different order, and minus a few…

This album is the recording of the inaugural concert of the Grand Orgue Pierre-Béique at the Maison Symphonique in Montreal. For grandeur, majesty and sheer tonal opulence, few symphonies can stand beside the Third Symphony of Saint-Saëns. The prominent contribution from the organ, the “King of Instruments,” provides an additional measure of imposing sonority to the work. The entire symphony is based on the principle of continual transformation of a “motto” theme. This theme makes its first full appearance in the restless series of short detached notes in the violins, following the slow, mysterious introduction. The attentive ear will pick out this theme in its rhythmic and coloristic metamorphoses throughout the symphony – at varying times flowing and lyrical, detached and fragmented, broad and noble, or agitated and restless. Olivier Latry is organist at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and organ professor at the Paris Conservatory. His appointment to France’s premier cathedral in 1985 at the age of 23 propelled him onto the international scene: he has appeared in more than 50 countries and on all five continents, as a recitalist or with orchestra.

This is the fourth volume of ATMA's ongoing Bach Cantata cycle and it is a big improvement over Bach: Cantatas BWV 1, 82, 147 - Montréal Baroque because Eric Milnes has moderated his previous excesses of interpretative choices. Now pauses fit in the overall conception of phrases and the longer line is immediately identifiable without recourse to a score…

One of the outlets for bassist Charlie Haden's multifarious musical interests is the politically charged, progressive Liberation Music Orchestra. In July 1992, the Orchestra - a powerhouse of some of the top names in jazz - brought the collaborative sound of their album Dream Keeper to the Montreal International Jazz Festival. The African National Congress anthem, 'Nkosi Sikelel'I Afrika,' opens the program and sets the tone, with a blistering solo from the alto sax of Makanda Ken McIntyre and a more reflective one by tenor giant Joe Lovano.

Montreal Gazette is a 3CD bootleg of Led Zeppelin recorded at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 7 June, 1972. It is an audience recording, or a mixture of different audience recordings, one source says two recordings while another says there may be a possible third source. It is interesting to hear a set that comes between two albums, the band's fourth album from 1971 and what would become Houses Of The Holy in 1973. This was released on the Wendy Label.
