With this romantic reverie, Marlene Dietrich made her triumphant debut before American audiences and unveiled the enthralling, insouciant persona that would define her Hollywood collaboration with director Josef von Sternberg. Set on the far side of the world but shot outside Los Angeles, Morocco navigates a labyrinth of melancholy and desire as the cabaret singer Amy Jolly (Dietrich), fleeing her former life, takes her act to the shores of North Africa, where she entertains the overtures of a wealthy man of the world while finding herself increasingly drawn to a strapping legionnaire with a shadowy past of his own (Gary Cooper). Fueled by the smoldering chemistry between its two stars, and shot in dazzling light and seductive shadow, the Oscar-nominated Morocco is a transfixing exploration of elemental passions.

As one of the most instantly recognizable voices in all of rock – in a career that has spanned four decades – there isn't much for Deep Purple's Ian Gillan to prove. But to his credit, he's still at it, as the frontman (to this day) for Purple, as well as returning to his solo career when the mood hits, as evidenced by the release of his 2009 offering, One Eye to Morocco. And while there are indeed some rockin' moments heard throughout Morocco, it won't be confused anytime soon with the heavy metal thunder of such early-'70s Purple releases as Fireball or Machine Head. That said, Gillan is still in fine voice (in fact, it's eerie how much his voice sounds comparable to his vintage Purple days)…

Morocco from Above is a high-end premium documentary of Yann Arthus-Bertrand on Morocco, shot exclusively from the sky. This documentary makes us discover that wonderful country from a brand new point of view, on the occasion of the UN climate conference (known as COP22) in Marrakesh in November 2016. Morocco is a gigantic fresco, elaborated around a trip among the flagship sites of the country. This travel goes through history, territories and humanities to draw an accurate portray. The camera carries us from one picture to another, from the dry coast to the fields with industrial complexes, from the cities to small villages. Each time, several visions are combined and intermingled, putting forward a unique physical geography, full of diversity: nature, the earth, the fields, cultures, wadis and valleys, mountains, the dry and the green of the plains, cereals as well as durum wheat…What the sky lets us discover, is how a country’s wealth is with no doubt coming from its land and from the humans working on it.
