Collection includes 16 albums by American instrumental rock band Los Straitjackets. Los Straitjackets is a Nashville based band known primarily for performing instrumental surf music.

Julie London remains a one of the greatest female vocalists of the entire twentieth century; and every minute of this album proves it. Hers was a talent we just don't get to cherish very often.

The vocalist on many of the tracks is the leader's mother, and her voice is an uncanny recreation of Marilyn's, if Marilyn had been a jazz singer. Mulgrew Miller's piano support is central to the success of these sparkling versions of the tunes. Recorded at a Swiss studio, the sonics are super clean and well-balanced. Tracks: Kiss, My Heart Belongs to Daddy, Incurably Romantic, You'd Be Surprised, Let's Make Love, She Acts Like a Woman Should, Specialization, Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend, Some Like It Hot, I'm Through with Love.

This two-fer from BMG International features a pair of out of print Della Reese LPs: Swing Slow and Della Della Cha-Cha-Cha. Originally issued on RCA Victor in the early '60s, these 26 traditional pop songs include "Someday (You'll Want Me to Want You)," "Come on-A-My House," "Tea for Two," and "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." This is a nice sampler of familiar items that should satisfy the needs of casual fans.

A collector's dream! For the first time on DVD, here is a complete collection of all of Marilyn Monroe's studio performances. From her first recordings in the early '50s to the last musical performances she did in the 1960 film Let's Make Love, almost 90 minutes of Marilyn Monroe are contained in the audio chapter of this disc. The video chapter features Marilyn singing "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" to GIs stationed in Korea in 1954. Also included is perhaps her most famous singing performance, a surprise rendition of "Happy Birthday" to President Kennedy just months before she died. Special bonus features include a comprehensive collection of film trailers.

R.L. Burnside
Most young blues fans today know him as Mr. Wizard,
some sort of bluesy proto-punk who is innovating of remix technology to the blues.
These younger fans may not be aware that from the time of his first recording in 1967 until the early 1980s his image was that of solo country acoustic bluesman and that he recorded several albums in this format during those years.
Both of these images were somewhat false, the older one because it was anachronistic and the current one because it involves extensive outside manipulation of his sound. Burnside had switched to electric guitar long before 1967.
The only problem was that he seldom had a guitar and an amplifier that worked.
Sometimes he didn't even have them at all. When George Mitchell recorded him that year,
he let Burnside use his acoustic guitar, whitch was all Mitchell carried with him that year,
on his field recording expedition. The results were spectacular, but probably more a reflection of the Burnside sound of fifteen or twenty years earlier. They established the image, however, of R.L. Burnside was one of the last generation of acoustic Mississippi guitar bluesman……
But whatever his music is surrounded with, whatever manipulation is done to it after he has recorded it, and whatever type of guitar is put in his hands, R.L Burnside himself is always pretty much the same and will give a high quality blues performance.
Few of his fans today are aware that there was another Burnside from around the mid 1970s to the early 1990s,
a Burnside that had his own Band, the Sound Machine, made up of family members, and playing some of the toughest contemporary Mississippi country blues around.
This album, Raw Electric with his band, the Sound Machine, was recorded from 1979 to 1980.
