My Weekly – 05 May 2020

Force Majeure is an uplifting suite of real, soulful comfort music – an album that cathartically encapsulates an all-too-familiar human experience of 2020. Featuring 11 pieces performed by bassist Dezron Douglas & harpist Brandee Younger across a series of live-streamed shows from their living room in Harlem, NY, the album was self-recorded by the duo using just a single microphone.

Filmed live from her home with her family amidst a mixture of loveable fun and chaos, they were a means of virtual escapism for many and became weekly moments of united sequinned catharsis for the hundreds of thousands tuning in. This is a collection of the songs that sound-tracked her lockdown kitchen disco. The album features all of Sophie's biggest and best-known disco hits in one place for the first time ever! It include 6 Top 10 hits, Murder On The Dancefloor and Take Me Home, plus the brand new lead single Crying at the Discotheque.

In May 2020, with much of the world in lockdown and reeling from the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, Robert Fripp began uploading the first of 52 individual Soundscapes on his YouTube channel, streaming platforms, and DGMLive. 

EntitledMusic For Quiet Moments and appearing once a week, these pieces created a space for reflection, offering a means of pausing from the day-to-day concerns and to provide a point of calm and perhaps, a sense of hope, in such troubled times.
