In 1985, NOW Music released ‘NOW Dance: The 12” Mixes’, a 20-track compilation that included the extended or remix versions of some of the biggest recent hits and popular club tracks. This was followed a year later by a second 20-track volume, and in 1989, a third…NOW Music proudly present ‘NOW Dance – The 80s’; a selection of 48 tracks that appeared on those three original ‘NOW Dance’ albums - all in their 12”, extended or remixed versions.From the first (1985) ‘NOW Dance’ release – Philip Bailey and Phil Collins’ #1 smash ‘Easy Lover’ kicks off the album, with The Power Station, Eurythmics, Stephen Tin Tin Duffy, and Belouis Some following. Less compiled cuts from Eddy And The Soulband and Mahogany, Lillo Thomas, and T.C. Curtis are up next, along with huge chart and club hits from Loose Ends, Cool Notes, Jermaine Jackson, and the #1 ‘Move Closer’ from Phyllis Nelson. Two 80s classics from Ashford and Simpson (‘Solid’) and DeBarge (‘Rhythm Of The Night’) feature, before making way for a stellar line-up from the next ‘NOW Dance’ - from 1986.

Like many crucial inventions, the 12” single was born out of necessity. Although it’s widely seen as an innovation born in the disco era to help DJs keep people dancing by stretching out songs much further than the conventional three-minute mark defined by the 7” single, the very first 12” single appeared in 1970.

This instalment – 1981 – is released on 2023.The 12” single was a dynamic and increasingly essential part of the release schedule as the decade progressed. Incorporating extended (sometimes full album) versions, remixes, and re-inventions – they not only gave the dancefloor a longer version, and the listener an alternative take, but also highlighted the artistry of the producer – bringing together all kinds of elements to create new soundscapes woven together with the original track, either vocal or instrumental, to present another reason to be excited on release date.

Four CD set of the complete Salsoul Collection by Soul Funk and Disco Band Skyy plus bonus tracks of 12" and 7" versions of key repertoire. Including the albums Skyy, Skyway, Skyyport, Skyyline, Skyyjammer, Skyylight and Inner City plus bonus tracks from 1979 through 1984. Featuring all of the big floor fillers, including 'Here For You', 'First Time Around', 'Call Me', 'Let's Celebrate', 'Bad Boy', 'This Groove Is Bad' plus many, many more. Skyy was the brainchild of Randy Muller, a multi-talented musician originally from Guyana. Muller worked with B. T. Express before forming Brass Construction. Skyy consisted of Solmon Roberts Jr, Anibal Sierra, Gerald Lebon, Tommy McConnell, Wayne Wilentz, Denise Dunning, Bonne Dunning and Delores Dunning, along with help from Randy Muller, who with Solmon Roberts Jr produced all the Skyy Salsoul Albums.

Four CD set compiling everything Lene Lovich released for Stiff Records between 1978 and 1983. Toy Box is the ultimate compilation of Lene's years with Stiff; her name so synonymous with the label. With a striking appearance and sound to match, Lene Lovich arrived at Stiff Records in the summer of 1978, surfing the new wave and the subsequent 'Be Stiff' UK tour. DISC 1: Stateless (Original Mix) is the debut album released in October 1978. Including 'Lucky Number', 'Say When' and a gloriously retro cover of Tommy James & The Shondells hit, 'I Think We're Alone Now'. Bonus tracks include various versions of 'Lucky Number' in development (early B-Side version, Instrumental and rare US Slavic Dance 12" version), together with a Japanese version of 'I Think We're Alone Now'.

NOW Music are excited to present the next instalment of the ‘NOW 12” 80s’ series – NOW 12” 80s: 1982 – Part One – Out January 19th!Across 4 CDs, extended, full-length or remixed versions reflecting the shift from Disco being the dominant genre in the Chart, to it being enriched with the developing Synth-Pop and New-Wave sounds of the New Romantics. Despite this sonic shift, the 12” single played an even more vital role than it had done with Funk and Disco, providing fans with more time on club dancefloors and more room for artist and producer experimentation. This edition of 12” 80s presents part one of 1982 – such massive year for Pop that we had to split this year into two parts to present all of the essential tracks.

Now That’s What I Call Music continue their year-by-year examination of extended mixes from the 1980s with another 4CD set representing ‘Part 2’ of 1982. This package continues no fewer than 49 mixes of songs by some of the most innovative and famous artists of the decade, including Wham!, Duran Duran, Haircut 100, Talk Talk, Soft Cell, Japan, Simple Minds, Heaven 17, The Associates, Thomas Dolby, Visage, ABC, Blondie, China Crisis and many more.
