Naoko Tanaka learned classical piano from childhood, active at Yamaha JOC. Winning prizes at various competitions, she went on to Toho Gakuen University piano course and won first prize at the Bulgarian International Competition while studying abroad. As a classical pianist, she was able to walk smoothly, but turn into the jazz world. At the same time, she was invited into Pop world, as a keyboard player, participating in lots of live recordings. "I Fall In Love Too Easily" is she's fifth release as leader. Recorded as part of "Hi-Res Beauty Jazz Series", in native DSD256 without any editing, and produced by Masahiko Osaka, this album is the first "standards" album of a female pianist who expresses a sharp head in a jazz scene by a beautiful and bold play that is intellectually brilliant and sometimes thrilling.

Gottlieb Muffat was the most important Viennese harpsichord composer of the 18th century. He inherited and developed a compound style that fused high Italian Baroque with the lightness of the French school. From his father, Georg – one of the greatest organ and orchestral composers of his own generation – Gottlieb absorbed a gift for ballet movements. This is the third and final volume in Naoko Akutagawa’s series of Muffat’s Harpsichord Suites.

Director: Kaneto Shindô
Veteran filmmaker Kaneto Shindo, who was 86 at the time of making this film, tackles the graying of Japan's population. The film opens with Yasukichi (Rentaro Mikuni), a retired chemist who lives with his middle-aged daughter, Tokuko (Shinobu Otake), drunkenly decrying the younger generation's poor treatment of the elderly in his favorite drink hole. When the bar's matron (Naoko Otani) admonishes him for being too loud, he continues to drink and rant until he wets himself and passes out on the floor. He wakes up in a hospital, cared for by the doctor (Akira Emoto) who found him out cold in front of the bar. Yasukichi's loutish behavior suddenly changes. His daughter, however, does not buy it for a second. His drunken tirades have pushed away Tokuko's siblings and driven her to the brink of mental illness. She tells the old man that if it were up to her, she would leave him at the hospital. The clinic is not, as the doctor points out, a nursing home, and Tokuko grudgingly lets him return. Yet Yasukichi knows that an old folks home is in his future. About the same time, he becomes obsessed with the legend of Obasuteyama village near Nagano, where the elderly are supposedly left to die in the mountains. Yasukichi soon starts to see the nursing home and Obasuteyama's notorious traditions as being roughly the same.

Japanese cult pop punk trio Shonen Knife celebrate their 35th Anniversary this year with a brand new album Adventure, which sees the band delving deeper into the 70s rock leanings that they explored on their last album Overdrive. Formed in Osaka by guitarist and chief songwriter Naoko in 1981, Japan's Shonen Knife rose from humble DIY beginnings crafting their own idiosyncratic songs, and fashioning their own brightly coloured outfits, to sharing a stage with Nirvana on their Nevermind tour, trailblazing a path for women in music and inspiring legions of bands. Despite their 35 years as a band, Shonen Knife still sound as fresh and vital as they ever did. They have maintained their rightful place in the ever-changing indie rock scene as one of the most influential and beloved of Japanese rock exports.
