Strawberries, cherries, and an angel's kiss in spring…" were the immortal words sung by a twenty-five-year-old Nancy Sinatra on a frigid spring day in a London recording studio during the sessions for her third LP in four months! The 1966 album was cut in three days at Pye Studios where The Kinks, Petula Clark, and David Bowie recorded their songs in the mid-1960s. By going directly to the source and choosing songs like "On Broadway," "Wishin' and Hopin'," and "This Little Bird," the album has an unequivocally British feel. The LP includes the timeless Nancy & Lee Hazlewood duet "Summer Wine.

Sugar was the fourth album recorded by Nancy Sinatra in 1966, an uncanny feat considering The Beatles were recording around two albums a year at the time. The iconic Ron Joy cover photo of Nancy in a pink bikini (the first on an album cover!) was a daring move in 1967 that helped propel the album to #18 on the charts (Nancy's second highest charting album after Boots). It is a peculiar record that pairs one of Nancy's biggest songs, "Sugar Town," with mostly 1920s compositions recorded in a contemporary Dixieland jazz pop fusion style that could have only been concocted by producer Lee Hazlewood. Equal parts strong, sultry, and savvy, Nancy Sinatra has long been ahead of her time-both in her choices as an artist and as a businesswoman. Unapologetically, she established her own path early on and paved the way for decades of female artists to come-all while firmly maintaining control over her career, her image, and her music. In 1965, Nancy Sinatra changed the face of music, fashion, and culture.

In 1967, Nancy Sinatra would continue her artistic ascent into the pop stratosphere with the James Bond You Only Live Twice theme song, the groovy technicolor television special, Movin' With Nancy, recording one of the most beloved duets of all time, "Some Velvet Morning," and a cross-country pilgrimage to the center of the country music scene. Nancy traveled to Nashville to cut her fifth album at RCA Studios, where many of the greatest country songs of all time were recorded. On Country, My Way, Nancy fuses her own personal style with country music, resulting in a new hybrid sound. Producer Lee Hazlewood called it "hippie-billy." While many people get credit for pioneering the contemporary country sound, like many milestones of the 1960s, Nancy was one of the first. Equal parts strong, sultry, and savvy, Nancy Sinatra has long been ahead of her time-both in her choices as an artist and as a businesswoman. A number of diverse influences have helped shape the musical language of Malcolm Dedman (born in London in 1948 but resident in provincial South Africa since 2007), among them Bartók and Messiaen, his Bahá’í Faith and, more recently, his new South African homeland. Points of contact with other composers can be heard, too, not least Debussy, Ravel, Barber and Ginastera. These piano works embody a wide range of moods, from gentle introspection to energetic, dissonant vigour.

With Nancy playing up the "girly" and Lee doubling down on the "manly," the duo's 1968 Reprise album "Nancy & Lee" turned an unlikely pairing into a vocal-pop delight-and a #13 LP. Four years later, Nancy and Lee reunited for a second album-one that proved to be every bit as endearing and several degrees more ambitious. Ranging from boldly psychedelic to sweetly cinematic, "Nancy & Lee Again" (1972) features the epic "Arkansas Coal (Suite)," the sensual "Paris Summer," the Dolly Parton-penned "Down from Dover," the country-flavored "Did You Ever" (a #2 UK smash) and more. This first-ever reissue of "Nancy & Lee Again" includes the bonus songs "Machine Gun Kelly" (first time on vinyl) and "Think I'm Coming Down" (previously unreleased) and the audio here is newly remastered from the original analog tapes. The expanded gatefold sleeve contains a 20-page booklet and features never-before-seen photos from Nancy's personal archive. And the #1 reason you should jump on this: it's a Collectors' Choice Music Exclusive pressing on hot-lookin' hot pink vinyl, limited to just 500 copies!

Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley is a studio album by Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley originally issued in February 1962 by Capitol Records. The Penguin Guide to Jazz states "The odd session out is the date with Nancy Wilson for Capitol, primarily designed as a showcase for the young singer but with five band-only tracks as well. Wilson had a self-conscious phrasing and melodramatic lighting-up of key lines - but there is a version of "A Sleeping Bee" here which is one of the most charming of all her recordings, and Cannon and the others play personably throughout". Wilson considered her vocals on the album "as a sort of easy-going third horn".
