Siloah (1970). In 1970 Manuela, Tiny, Thom and Wolfgang were living and playing together in Munich. Under the name of Siloah they released a now highly sought-after LP whose master tapes are lost. In 1993 it was released on CD for the first time (Lost Pipedreams LP 013 CD), but unsufficiently decrackled and without any bonus tracks. Now at last there is a flawless re-issue of it including everything recorded at that time - even the track from the extremely rare "Release" sampler as well as their 7'' "Mit Tiny nach Tanger", of which only one copy was made. But what is most impressive is the 28-page booklet in colour, which leaves nothing to be desired. Siloah’s second album, "Sukram Gurk", recorded with a new line-up in 1972, is soon to follow. In 1990 Neil Hannon started recording and releasing under the name The Divine Comedy. Thirty years and twelve great albums later, Hannon is rightly adjudged one of the finest singer songwriters of his generation. To celebrate, Divine Comedy Records are remastering and reissuing nine of the band's classic albums.

Featuring compositions and arrangements by film composer and jazz buff Michel Legrand, Stan Getz's Communications '72 is one in a long line of strings-and-voices albums the tenor saxophonist recorded. Starting with a Gunther Schuller-arranged session from 1955, Getz produced some impressive work in this context, with the incredible Eddie Sauter collaboration Focus standing out in particular. And even in the midst of some not-so-incredible backing on a few sets, Getz always comes up with impeccable solo statements. For his part, Legrand strikes an expert balance here among jazz combo, strings, and chorus, but the frenetic Swingle Singers-style choral parts don't always come off. While overpowering Getz on the otherwise lovely "Redemption," the vocal interjections sound too overarching in their mix of avant-garde and straightforward phrasing on "Outhouse Blues" and "Bonjour Tristesse"…

Mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik, who has signed up with Alpha for several recordings, is one of the most prominent vocal artists of her generation. She was chosen as ‘Révélation lyrique’ at the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2018, and elected the same year a Laureate of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth of Belgium Competition. She has participated in the “Jardin des Voix” of les Arts Florissants under William Christie, also regularly collaborates with Le Poème Harmonique and Vincent Dumestre – but her constant accompanist is the harpsichordist Justin Taylor.
