The New York Philharmonic and Music Director Jaap van Zweden's World Premiere performances of David Lang's prisoner of the state will be released on June 26, 2020.

New York at Night is the 13th studio album from veteran rock 'n' roll troubadour Willie Nile, and the strongest manifestation to date of his deep affinity for the city. The album's 12 new originals exemplify the artist's trademark mix of romance, idealism, humor, emotional urgency and a true believer's passionate embrace of all things rock 'n' roll. New Yorker Magazine has described Willie as "One of the most brilliant singer-songwriters of the past 30 years", and Uncut Magazine dubbed him the unofficial poet laureate of New York City. Nile's abiding passion for his town animates such tunes as "New York Is Rockin'" and the album's title track. "New York City has always inspired me," states Willie. "I've lived in Greenwich Village for many years now, and I still love being there. The energy, the grit, and the mystery of it all fills my heart with wonder.

For the sessions in New York though, instead of an orchestra or ready-made arrangements accompanying Monro, they chose the songs and did all the arrangements as they went along – head arrangements, as they are known. The band was made up of just five musicians - a pianist, bassist, drummer and two guitarists, who both played a mixture of electric and acoustic guitars.The majority of the recordings made over the week were from relatively new musicals, many running in Broadway theatres at the time of the recording, aside from "Stranger In Paradise," which dated from the early 1950s. Seeing as Monro was there, musical director Dave Cavanaugh took the opportunity to lay down a couple of tracks written by Richard Ahlert for possible single release, which had no Broadway show connections.
