All the three records of early works reveal a fascinating glimpse into an era of Frahm’s work known until now only to diehard and longstanding fans. ‘Electric Piano’ contains seven tracks originally released as a download in 2008.

Berlin-based pianist Nils Frahm's move into electronic music has been so seamless that one almost can't tell when he's switched genres. Although his work is now as likely to contain synthesisers, Rhodes, and tape delays as it is a piano, that same haunting, highly evocative, and beautiful aesthetic that colors his classical compositions is still present throughout his electronic material, including his most recent offering, Juno Reworked.

Put together in late night sessions at his home studio, this third release from German modern classical impresario Nils Frahm has floor boards creaking and errant noises rustling in the gaps between his delicately poised chords, Frahm’s breathing faintly audible as his ghostly piano tinkering plays out. If autumn has so far been generous to neo-classical junkies with albums from the likes of droned string symphony experimenters A Winged Victory For The Sullen, then Felt is perhaps the season’s most enticing gift yet: a cryptic weave of indelible sounds and silences; an emotional juggernaut.

For the past two years, Nils Frahm has been building a brand new studio in Berlin to make his 7th studio album titled All Melody, this is in the warm up to his first world tour since 2015. His previous albums have often been accompanied with a story, such as Felt (2011) where he placed felt upon the hammers of the piano out of courtesy to his neighbours when recording late at night in his old bedroom studio, and the following album Screws (2012) when injuring his thumb forced him to play with only nine fingers. His new album is born out of the freedom that his new environment provided, allowing Nils to explore without any restrictions and to keep it All about the Melody.

Nils Frahm has unexpectedly confirmed details of a new collection of solo piano music, his first album since 2022’s three-hour 'Music For Animals'. Out on March 1st, 2024, it will be available on limited edition vinyl as well as via all digital platforms. It was recorded in the summer of 2022 in complete solitude and away from his studio at Berlin’s famed Funkhaus complex.
