In November 2023 we celebrated NOW’s 40th anniversary with a collection of 100 massive Pop hits – but with 40 years of hits to choose from we had to leave out so many fantastic tracks – so it’s time to continue that celebration with NOW That’s What I Call 40 Years - Part 2 – 100 more essential hit tracks across 5 CDs – again honouring the legacy with a stellar selection from the past four decades of NOW. Embark on a musical journey from 1983 right up to the present day, making at least one memorable stop in each year along the way. Opening with Duran Duran’s 1983 #1 ‘Is There Something I Should Know?’, which featured on the first NOW album along with ‘Temptation’ by Heaven 17. Unforgettable hits including ‘Here Comes The Rain Again’ by Eurythmics, and Synth-Pop smashes from Howard Jones with ‘What Is Love?’ and ‘Smalltown Boy’ by Bronski Beat are up next. ‘Two Tribes’ by Frankie Goes To Hollywood spent 9 weeks at #1 in 1984 and features ahead of covers including the #1 collaboration between UB40 and Chrissie Hynde, and Kim Wilde’s version of ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’ which hit #1 in the U.S. The production team Stock, Aitken and Waterman hit Pop gold in the late ‘80s and huge hits they produced for Bananarama and Hazell Dean are included. The first disc closes with 1989 classics from Fine Young Cannibals, and the first #1 from Simple Minds ‘Belfast Child’.

Chick’s brilliant trio album from 1968, Now He Sings. Now He Sobs is among the greatest piano trio albums ever released. Recorded in 1968, the record firmly established Chick as a pianist and composer with a unique vision, one that floated free of traditional genre distinctions and conventions, into new and thrilling territory. With veteran drummer Roy Haynes and brilliant bassist Miroslav Vitous, Chick creates a new language of his own, instantly recognizable from the first, classic cymbal flourish and piano run of “Matrix.” The trio is locked in, totally attuned to each other, and operating at a tremendous level. This is jazz of the highest order.

Apocalypse Now is one of the great films. Photography, score, acting and direction are without flaw. Coppola never scaled such heights subsequently. It seems the sheer effort to produce such a work extinguished much of his creative spark. Stravinsky frightened himself with the awesome force of his Sacre Du Printemps, and changed directions after, never to match this achievement; Richard Strauss fled into Neo-romanticism after writing the disturbing Elektra and Salome, unable to equal their innovation and power. But these seminal works (Le Sacre, Salome, Elektra, Apocalypse Now) remain as peaks of Art. Like the great classics of literature, each viewing of this film reveals deeper levels of meaning. It's stupid to even apply an arbitrary rating to this work. It would be like writing, "Brothers Karamazov gets 5 out of 5." It cannot be rated.

On the cover of his solo debut album, Jesus of Cool (in the U.K.; in the U.S., the album was called Pure Pop for Now People), Nick proves that assumption correct on Jesus of Cool, a record so good it was named twice, as Lowe's American record label got the jitters with Jesus and renamed it Pure Pop for Now People, shuffling the track listing (but not swapping songs) in the process.

Over the course of the album’s 12 tracks, the melody and chant of “peace is now” becomes a choral mantra that is channeled through a wide variety of musical styles such as folk, jazz, rock, reggae, gospel, and more.
