The Oak Ridge Boys were asking each other, “Who is the person that first taught us about love, living, friends, God, and the other important things in our lives?” We agreed that would be our mothers. Down deep in our hearts, we all felt we were “mama’s boys. In this album, there are heartfelt songs, spiritual songs, memories of growing up, songs about being taught life’s lessons, and fun songs about eating way too much of mama’s home cookin’. Oak Ridge Boys is the name of an American vocal quartet that began with gospel music in the 1940s and was extremely successful with country and pop music in the 1970s and 1980s.

Billboard "Top Country Albums" - #1 (1982). Bobbie Sue is the seventh album by The Oak Ridge Boys. It was released on February 10, 1982. Its title song was a #1 country chart hit (on April 3, 1982) and a #12 hit on the Hot 100 singles chart. The album also featured cover versions of two songs: "So Fine", a song originally by The Fiestas; and "Up on Cripple Creek", originally by The Band.

Though Heartbeat was recorded after the dismissal of William Lee Golden, this is the first album in which replacement Steve Sanders was involved from beginning to end in the recording process.

Throughout the presentation, music artists of various genres perform some of Lee’s biggest hits plus special guests like Paula Deen, Kid Rock, Dolly Parton, and Pres George W. Bush provide video messages and introductions. Lee’s song “God Bless The USA” has become a patriotic anthem helping bring America together after 9/11 and other tragic moments in US history. The night this special was filmed, Lee was able to award two (2) veterans with an adapted home in conjunction with Helping A Hero, a 501c3 org.
