This Soundtrack not only has a fantastic duet of John and Olivia, titled "Take A Chance" but it also has what I think to be one of the best singles from Journey titled "Ask The Lonely". David Foster adds his talents as does Chicago.
This Soundtrack Rated #26 in the US Nov.'83,
The single- Twist Of Fate b/w Take a chance placed #5 in the US Nov.'83 as well as #57 in the UK Oct. '83.
Livin' In Desperate Times placed #31 in the US Feb.'84.
Shakin' You was not released as a single but is an awesome song and a great addition to the soundtrack as well as to Olivia's Love Song's. [ olivianewtonjohn.us ~ Chart Info ~ Biography ~ Discography ~ Singles and more.. ]
John and Olivia duet ranks up there with their 1978 duets. Perfect for the collectors. A Must have for ALL Olivia Newton-John fans!

In 1981, Olivia Newton-John released her most successful studio album, the double platinum Physical (No. 6 Pop). (Newton-John's albums, If You Love Me, Let Me Know and Have You Never Been Mellow both charted higher with each spending one week at No. 1.) The title track, written by Steve Kipner and Terry Shaddick, spent ten weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 matching the then record of most weeks at No. 1 held by Debby Boone's You Light Up My Life. The single was certified platinum and it ultimately ranked as the biggest song of the decade. (In 2008, Billboard ranked the song No. 6 among all songs that charted in the 50-year history of the Hot 100.) The Physical album spawned two more singles, Make a Move on Me (No. 5 Pop, No. 6 AC) and Landslide (No. 52 Pop).

Happy Birthday, dear Olivia Newton-John!

"Physical" is the 12th studio album by English-born Australian singer Olivia Newton-John, released on 13 October 1981, by MCA Records. The album was produced and partly written by her long-time record producer John Farrar. Recorded and mixed at Ocean Way and David J. Holman's studio in Los Angeles, California, "Physical" became one of Newton-John's most controversial and sexual records, and her most successful studio album to date. Musically, the album features considerable use of synthesizers and it explores lyrical themes such as love and relationships, sex, kinesthetics and environmental protection. Upon its release, the album received positive reviews from music critics, many of them considering it to be Newton-John's best effort. The album charted high in several countries, including the United States, Japan and Newton-John's native Australia, becoming one of the most successful albums of the early 1980s. It also ranks among the best-selling albums by Australian solo artists, selling more than 10 million copies worldwide.

Happy 70th Birthday, dear Olivia!

"Clearly Love" is an album by Olivia Newton-John, released on 30 September 1975. The album's peak of #12 in the US was also something of a disappointment, considering that Newton-John's previous two albums, "If You Love Me, Let Me Know" and "Have You Never Been Mellow", had both reached #1. Nevertheless, the album did earn a Gold certification, and both of the album's singles were Top 20 country chart hits, with "Something Better to Do" reaching #19 and "Let It Shine" (written by Nashville songwriter Linda Hargrove) reaching #5. In the United Kingdom it was a different story, as neither the album nor its singles charted at all there. The market in which the album was most successful in terms of chart position was the Netherlands, where it went to #1. "Clearly Love" also did well in Japan, reaching #3 on the Oricon Albums Chart, the LP sold 110,450 there.

"Physical" and "Make a Move on Me" were brilliant singles from 1981's Physical album, and they achieved their status as timeless pop classics without the help of a Xanadu soundtrack. "Overnight Observation" from Soul Kiss doesn't come close to the magic of those radio gems. It, like the front and back cover photos, seems a bit contrived, as does much of this album. "You Were Great, How Was I?" is a duet with Carl Wilson, and features he and Christopher Cross providing authentic Beach Boys harmonies.

Olivia Newton-John's Greatest Hits (1977) was the first compilation album released by Olivia Newton-John in the United States. (In some other regions, Newton-John released a 1974 compilation, First Impressions. This album was therefore marketed instead as Greatest Hits Vol. 2 and featured a different track listing.) The album collected all of Newton-John's American Top 40 singles released between 1971 and 1977. "Changes" was the only track not released as a single, but it was one of Newton-John's first self-written songs that she recorded. The album was Newton-John's first platinum certification peaking No. 13 Pop and No. 7 Country. It ended up being certified double Platinum in the US and Gold in the UK and in Hong Kong.

"Making a Good Thing Better" is an album by Olivia Newton-John, released in 1977. The album peaked at #34 on the US Pop chart and #13 on the Country chart. It was Newton-John's first album not to reach the Country Top 10. The album also ended Olivia's streak of six consecutive Gold albums from 1974's "Let Me Be There" through 1976's "Don't Stop Believin'". In the Netherlands, it became her fourth chart-topping album. The soul-sounding title track was the album single (with "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" and "Sad Songs") only reached #87 on the Pop chart and #20 on the Adult Contemporary chart. It was Newton-John's first single not to reach the AC Top 10 since 1972's "What Is Life".

UTV Records' Magic: The Very Best of Olivia Newton-John is the best compilation ever assembled on Newton-John's career, largely because it does cover her entire career, hitting every major point from her early-'70s soft country-pop hits, like "I Honestly Love You," through her star-making turn in Grease, selections from Xanadu, up to the Physical era and its fallout.
