On Bordeaux

Francisco Goya (1746-1828), deaf and ill, lives the last years of his life in voluntary exile in Bordeaux, a Liberal protesting the oppressive rule of Ferdinand VII. He's living with his much younger wife Leocadia and their daughter Rosario. He continues to paint at night, and in flashbacks stirred by conversations with his daughter, by awful headaches, and by the befuddlement of age, he relives key times in his life, particularly his relationship with the Duchess of Alba, his discovery of how he wanted to paint (insight provided by Velázquez's work), and his lifelong celebration of the imagination. Throughout, his reveries become tableaux of his paintings.

Born in Bordeaux, Marie Merlet was studying film and presenting a radio program on the radio station Nova Sauvagine, when she met Laetitia Sadier. At the time, Marie was playing with thousands of groups: a girl-group doing covers from the sixties, a Washington DC-styled punk group, and a few experimental electronic projects. But when the then-singer of STEREOLAB asked her to join MONADE and she started recording and touring with her, there was no turning back. She traded Bordeaux for London, where they continued the musical projects as the electronic duo ZOOEY or the sweet pop of LISBONNE.

Florida's longest running blues band, Backtrack Blues Band, has spent decades refining its blues chops, performing with such blues masters as BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gregg Allman, Buddy Guy and more. The band's 7th album, "Your Baby Has Left", captures Backtrack's unique blend of muscular harp and vocals and tasty Texas- inspired lead guitar, with stellar accents by Bruce Katz's keys and The Muscle Shoals horns. Recorded to analog tape and masterfully produced, this release is destined to be the band's best effort yet.
