The Budos Band's VII marks the nonet's return to full-length recording after 2020's Burnt Offering and 2023's fine Frontier’s Edge EP. It's their debut long-player on Diamond West, the label created by Budos guitarist/producer Thomas Brenneck and baritone saxophonist Jared Tankel. VII extends the dark psychedelia approach of 2020's Burnt Offering, but it's more a vibe than an aesthetic. Instead, BB focuses on extending their stylistic reach with sophisticated horn charts - played by Tankel, trumpeters Dave Guy and Andrew Greene, and trombonist Ray Mason - framed by incendiary percussion from ace drummer Brian Profilio and newcomer percussionist Rich Terrana (ex- Frightnrs). It's texturally and ambitiously buoyed by the rhythm section that includes Brenneck, bassist Dan Foder, and organist Mike Deller. BB hadn't been in the studio together for two years when they convened in California to write and record…
Jacques Coursil, trumpet player and beacon composer of the New York Free Jazz scene of the 60s, interrupted his career for more than 40 years to devote himself to the philosophy of mathematics and to Creole literature. He returned to the music scene in 2007, with the album Clameurs which blended years of underground work with his pronounced taste for the texts of the major Creole authors on Negritude.
The Meatmen were a Michigan, United States punk band headed by Tesco Vee from 1980 to 1997.
The Meatmen made fun of the hardcore punk scene of the time. The band was known for their stage antics, and for songs with colorful song titles such as "I Sin For A Living", "1 Down, 3 To Go" (a reference to the murder of former Beatles member John Lennon), and the Suck Trilogy of "Crippled Children Suck," "French People Suck," and "Camel Jockeys Suck."
Fourty three years ago in December 1973, Frank Zappa played a series of legendary concerts at the famed Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Considered a high-water mark of his career, owing to the incredible, virtuosic performances of himself and his stellar band The Mothers, the five shows – across three nights – included a private invite-only performance/soundcheck/film shoot followed by back-to-back doubleheaders. A few days later, continuing this incredibly prolific week, Zappa brought his band and camera crew to Ike Turner’s Bolic Sound in Inglewood for a filmed recording session. In typical Zappa fashion, he recorded it all.

"Oi Magoi" is the 2nd full-length studio album by Greek progressive extreme metal act Hail Spirit Noir. The album was released through code666 in January 2014. Hail Spirit Noir was originally formed as a side-project by two members of Greek avant garde/post-black metal act Transcending Bizarre?, but the band's debut album "Pneuma (2012)" turned out to be a major success for the band. Widely praised by critics and fans alike, so it appears that Transcending Bizarre? is put on hold for the moment and all focus is on Hail Spirit Noir.
