The Air War over the Eastern Front, history's largest and longest air campaign, has been one of the least understood chapters of aviation history. This is because-prior to the release of the Black Cross / Red Star series - histories of this immense subject have been based on material taken almost exclusively from the German side. With Volume II, the air war during the Soviet winter offensive of 1941 is described in detail. The reasons behind the German failure and subsequent resurgence in the East are portrayed, with the emphasis on air operations that have not been covered until now. Climaxing this volume are detailed descriptions of the large-scale air battles during the German offensives at Kharkov and Sevastopol in mid 1942. Operation Rolling Thunder was the campaign that was meant to keep South Vietnam secure, and dissuade the North from arming and supplying the Viet Cong.
