"Thoroughbred" is the 7th album by American singer-songwriter Carole King, released in 1976. Her final release on Ode Records, it's also her last album produced by Lou Adler, who had been her collaborator since "Tapestry" (1971). The track "Only Love Is Real" was released as a lead single from the album, and became her 4th and final chart-topper on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. "High Out of Time", a song featuring David Crosby and Graham Nash on vocals, was also released as a single. Cash Box called "High Out of Time" "a sweet ballad, filled with Carole King's expected but always exciting melody hooks." The track "There's a Space Between Us" features harmony vocals by James Taylor.

"Totally Hot" is Olivia Newton-John's 9th US and 10th international studio album. Released in November 1978, it became her first solo Top 10 (# 7) album since 1975's "Have You Never Been Mellow". Dressed on the album cover all in leather, Newton-John's transformation in Grease from goody-goody "Sandy 1" to spandex-clad "Sandy 2" emboldened her to do the same with her music. The album's singles "A Little More Love" (# 3 Pop, # 94 Country, # 4 AC), "Deeper Than The Night" (# 11 Pop, # 87 Country, # 4 AC), and the title track (# 52 Pop) all demonstrated a more aggressive and uptempo sound for Newton-John.

The album peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in late 1974 and spun off successful singles with "Jazzman", reaching #2 on the Pop chart and earning Carole King a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female in the 17th Grammy Awards (the award went to Olivia Newton-John for "I Honestly Love You"). It was the last studio album with the band's original lineup and the last studio album to feature original vocalist Ozzy Osbourne until the 2013 album 13. It was certified Gold in the U.S. on 7 November 1997 and as of November 2011 sold 133,000 copies in the United States since the SoundScan era. The album received mixed reviews, with critics calling it "unbalanced" and insisting its energy was scattered in too many directions.
