It's rather incredible to ponder the fact that with the release of The McCartney Years in late 2007, Paul McCartney has now been making recordings in various mediums for the better part of 40 years–and that's not even including the decade he spent as a member of the world's greatest band. And while some may quibble about certain details of the content and presentation, this three-disc set, packed with videos, concert footage, interviews, documentaries, and more, will surely satisfy the vast majority of Sir Paul's loyal subjects. The dozens of videos, occupying the first two discs and spanning the years from 1970 ("Maybe I'm Amazed," ten years before the emergence of MTV) to 2005 ("Fine Line"), can be viewed in either chronological order or as programmed by Macca himself. Ranging from straight lip-synced performances to various conceptual films, they are a decidedly mixed bag.

Despite the title of this two-CD set, WINGSPAN is actually a mix of Paul McCartney's solo songs and work created with his '70s band, divided into "Hits" and "History" discs. Material like "Silly Love Songs," "My Love," "Bluebird" and "Listen To What The Man Said" fully embraces Macca's reputation as the romantic, less intense half of the Lennon/McCartney songwriting juggernaut. While these fluffy smashes found many critics painting him as a pandering lightweight, McCartney also rocked the charts as hard as Lennon with numbers like "Band On The Run," "Jet," "Junior's Farm," and "Hi Hi Hi."

Heralded as one of the most beloved solo debuts of all time, McCartney, the smash #1 album, originally released April of 1970, yielded the timeless tracks "Every Night" and "Junk" along with the immortal classic "Maybe I'm Amazed." The bonus CD includes previously unreleased demos and live tracks. The bonus DVD contains previously unreleased footage. Tripping the Live Fantastic is Paul McCartney's first official live album and his first release of concert material since Wings' 1976 Wings over America live package. It was released in 1990 as triple LP, double cassette and double CD. Tripping the Live Fantastic reached number 17 in the UK and number 26 in the US. A document of the huge success of The Paul McCartney World Tour, Tripping the Live Fantastic encompasses McCartney's entire musical career from his famed Beatles hits to his recent hit album, Flowers in the Dirt, while also including some unique covers. Interspersed throughout the package are occasional soundcheck recordings as well. This album spawned a few singles which contained live B-sides from this tour. These B-sides were live songs that were not featured on the live album, which made the singles collectors items.

On June 17 1963, The Beatles were put through their paces at the BBC's Maida Vale studios, knocking out 18 songs inside a brisk seven hour radio session under the watchful eye of white-coated technicians. Fifty years on Sir Paul McCartney carries the weight of popular music history, but little else had changed when the star made a nostalgic return to the West London BBC studios' subterranean maze.

After 13 years producing studio albums that were not-so-favorably received by the critical establishment, ex-Beatle Paul McCartney made a remarkable return to the road in 1989-1990 with his "Get Back" world tour.
