This unique event, a celebration of Hard Rock Cafe's 20th anniversary in Japan, brought together "super guitarists" from different genres and backgrounds: Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt shared the spotlight for three nights with ex-Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones, Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big and Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis). Completing the line-up were drummer Pat Mastelotto from King Crimson, Roger King on keyboards and Mike Szuter on bass. Fantastic performance!

Commissioned by George Balanchine’s Ballet Society, The Minotaur is an exploration of the neo-classical style that marked the last traditional narrative Carter composed. It is joined on this album by settings of two poems by Robert Frost and the Piano Sonata, together illuminating the composer’s oft-overlooked early works; the details of these early pieces are at once complex, immediately graspable, and immensely powerful.

Gilbert O’Sullivan, one of the greatest singer-songwriters of his generation will return in 2024 with “Songbook”, following his previous successful studio album “Driven”. “Songbook”, a newly recorded 12 track album including a classic collection of key songs from Gilbert’s expansive catalogue over the last 55 years. Recorded at Lafayette, King’s Cross in late 2023. The album features long time friend, Bill Shanley on guitar and backing vocals The album features paired down versions of classic songs such as “Alone Again (Naturally)”, “Clair” and “Get Down”. There is also a brand new tracks which features on the album entitled “A Kiss is a Kiss”. This new album is a reminder to both existing fans and potential fans that Gilbert O’Sullivan is the songwriter’s songwriter. Gilbert has been championed in recent years by everyone from Paul Weller, Nina Simone, Mick Hucknall, Squeeze’s Difford & Tilbrook, Neil Diamond to Gary Barlow (whose Crooner Sessions Gilbert duetted on a few years ago), The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess, Empire Of The Sun and Boy George. I hear it’s Paul Weller’s favourite Gilbert O’Sullivan track and, this is also the track that Tim Burgess performed with Gilbert on stage at the Barbican in late ’22!

Gilbert O’Sullivan’s unique blend of melodic craftsmanship, witty wordplay, topical acuity and surrealist humour has given him an enduring and endearing career. His songwriting knack has outlived and transcended fashion, global million-sellers, critical acclaim, court cases and an occasional tendency to reclusiveness.

Two CD release recorded during the Next Time Around Tour in 2009. Mr. Big is a Rock supergroup that formed in 1988. The band is a quartet composed of Eric Martin (vocals), Paul Gilbert (guitar), Billy Sheehan (bass), and Pat Torpey (drums). The band is noted especially for their excellent musicianship, intense live performances, and well-crafted songs. Prior to the formation of the group, each of the members already had a reputation of being virtuosos as well as established songwriters. Their songs were often marked with Eric Martin's strong lead vocals, four part band vocal harmonies, and a technical proficiency in all instruments.
