This release commemorates four German composers who had to flee Germany during the Nazi era because they were Jewish: Paul Ben-Haim, Paul Dessau, Kurt Weill and Stefan Wolpe. Transylvanian-born Alexander U. Boskovich, who was also forced in 1938 to flee his homeland because he was Jewish, has been included in this programme because of his significance.

'Luck Child' by Dutch jazz singer Fay Claassen, is an ode to youth and beauty, with a mix of old and new songs. Mostly those she has been singing for many years but never recorded before. Famous and beloved songs by the likes of Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Burt Bacharach and Ennio Morricone are presented alongside new compositions by Paul Heller. Claassen has recorded her own albums together with many international jazz stars, such as Mike Stern, Kenny Werner and Toots Thielemans. She was invited as a soloist for recordings by the WDR Big Band, Bob Brookmeyers New Art Orchestra, the Millennium Jazz Orchestra and the Danish Radio Big Band. She has also worked with well-known conductors and arrangers such as Jim Mc Neely, Vince Mendoza and Michael Abene. Fay was awarded with The Golden Record for her double album 'Two Portraits of Chet Baker'.

In their latest album, Safe Place, German jazz duo Roman and Julian Wasserfuhr craft an intimate refuge through music. This is not about a physical destination—it’s a state of mind, a sanctuary for reflection and focus amidst the noise of modern life. Joined by cellist Jörg Brinkmann and saxophonist Paul Heller, the brothers craft an intimate, heartfelt soundscape that celebrates genuine connection and invite the listener on a musical journey away from distractions, offering clarity and tranquility. It’s a celebration of friendships, authenticity, and the power of music to ground us in what truly matters.

Every start is a gamble. Charlotte Illinger is young and loves a large repertoire. She gained some experience on stage as a member of the NRW State Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Federal Youth Jazz Orchestra and then during the four years when she studied at the Prins Claus Conservatory in the Dutch city of Groningen. She has also won a few prizes at "Jugend jazzt", the Haestens and the Sparda Jazz Award, and now she is in the finals of the Master's degree program as a Jazz Improvising Artist at Folkwang University in Essen, in other words, shortly before finally taking the scepter in her hand as an independent artist.
