A gumbo of off-kilter blues and folk spiced up by African grooves and pop hooks, all held together by stories from Cory's myriad travels. Cory Seznec has been quietly chipping away at the music industry's obsession with genre for the past the past 10 years. Whether with the weird world roots trio Groanbox, the Afro-new-folk of the Seznec Bros, his involvement in the Ethiopian fusion bands MistO-MistO and Damakase, or with his solo project, Cory has been doggedly blurring the lines and coloring outside the box.

This is perhaps the most "spirited" performance of Telemann's early chamber music that I've ever heard, and to my ears it sounds just right. It's the sort of performance when, even if you "know you know" the specific piece of music, you feel like you've never heard it before. In reality, seven of the nine sonatas on this CD are new to me. That's not so surprising when you consider that Telemann composed literally scores of scores!
