Pinback’s two early EPs, 2000’s Some Voices and 2003’s Offcell, are indisputable fan favorites in the catalog of the San Diego band; as a matter of fact, I personally think of the latter as consisting of some of Rob Crow’s and Zach Smith’s strongest compositions to date. Now, the two records are about to see a vinyl release for the first time ever, combined into one album. Temporary Residence Ltd. will put out the limited-edition colored vinyl of Some Offcell Voices on March 10.

On Trash Generator, the Sacramento trio Tera Melos builds on its prodigious mix of post-hardcore and prog, reining-in the chops in service of catchy, harmonically rich songs.

Jennifer Jupiter Holy cow! One of the best albums and bands of all time ever. Brilliant songs, arrangements, ideas, atmospheres, vocals, unpredictable melodies, full of surprises. Genius. This is the way music should be. Totally fucking amazing.

So, Cold Dark Place is actually a thing! Back, when Mastodon were writing Emperor of Sand, there was talk about a double album, with the second half being written entirely by Brent Hinds. That obviously didn't happen, as EoS ended up being a single record. Then, in the best interview ever made (check it out below), Brent said an album called "Cold Dark Place" will be released "on Record Store Day in June". The record is supposedly about a "nasty breakup". Brent described it as "pretty dark, beautiful, spooky, funky, ethereal, melancholy music, which also sounds like the Bee Gees a little bit."
