Itoiz was the name of a Basque music band from the coastal towns of Mutriku and Ondarroa, started off in 1978 and disbanded in 1988. Born in times of turmoil for the Basque Country (Spain), Itoiz stems from a dancing music band (i.e. playing other groups' songs) called Indar Trabes (1974), which performed mainly in evening festivities of towns. Throughout their existence spanning ten years, Itoiz dealt with several styles ranging from folk to progressive rock to pop. Collection includes first three albums: 'Itoiz' (1978), 'Ezekiel' (1980), and 'Alkolea' (1982).

BLUESPAM is since its foundation in 2009 and by devotion a blues & -rockin’ band teasing on top by a sweet-hot liquor buckshot of funk, soul and heavy-rock. Their home region is the shire of Bentheim in Lower Saxony, Germany. The border to The Lowlands and Enschede is only a rock throw away. This town is well known as the domicile of the famous NIX & MEER blues club. Blues-icons like Candye Kane, The Mason Rack Band, The Delta Saints or “Uncle-Boogieman” Michael Katon love or loved to perform there live whilst being on European tour.

Magela Herrera is a Cuban-born, Miami-based vocalist, composer and flute virtuoso making her debut as a bandleader with Explicaciones. Not since the days of those classic CTI Hubert Laws albums and those Atlantic LPs from Herbie Mann, has this writer heard such an expressive flutist. Yes, we could add Charles Lloyd’a alto flute to that list too. Beyond the flute though, Herrera is a sensual, vibrant vocalist and composer with a solid beginning and promising future. She leads a small ensemble of some of Miami’s best players through originals, jazz standards, Latin and Cuban favorites. Her unique background is the melding of several influences and experiences.

Following on from the successful 1950’s cool jazz and bop excursions in “Kind of Cool”, “Kind of Spain” is again with an 100% acoustic band. Traditional Spanish music meets jazz. The vibe created by this sextet is introvert, warm and atmospheric, and the listener’s mind might easily drift off… to a roof terrace somewhere in Granada by night, perhaps.
