With this new recording, Bruno Cocset’s Les Basses Réunies propose a journey back to 17th-century England, centring on the work of Tobias Hume, an emblematic musician of the viola da gamba and, more precisely, the lyra violl. This exploration in terms of music as much as of sound, presents three instruments that have just come from the hands of instrument-maker Charles Riché (seconded by Friederike Dangel). A distinguished guest, the talented Italian gambist Guido Balestracci, plays a selection of solo pieces by the famous soldier composer.

Formed in 1972, the band has had a few name changes in its history. Originally they called themselves Pipeline but they changed their name to "The Jam Band" by the mid-'70s. In 1977 they changed their name again as the British punk band The Jam became a sensation; their new name was The Universal Robot Band. In 1979 they signed to Atlantic Records using the name Kleeer. Becoming a cult band in the UK and US they enjoyed a string of hits in the R&B Charts. In the US national charts they had 3 top 40 entries, they had 2 in the top 50 in the UK, the only one both sides of the water being "Get Tough" although "Keeep Your Body Workin'" is the track that they are remembered for. At their first begining as a band, they played as a back-up group for The Choice Four, as both went from Baltimore to New York, which included Richard Lee on guitar, Norman Durham on bass, Gregory Talbot on keyboards and Woody Cunningham on drums.

It is an important moment in the life of a singer when she is able to confront the standard repertory. After years spent studying theatre and music in Shakespeare's England under the guidance of musicologist Philip Brett, Jill Feldman recorded two programmes of Henry Purcell's music in 1992, reissued here as a double CD. Many of the Ayres and Songs from Orpheus Britannicus are connected to the English theatrical tradition. In the earliest piece on this CD, From Silent Shades , and the latest, From Rosy Bow'rs , we hear one theatrical tradition placing the voice of truth in the mouth of a madman.

Above the album worked the Leif Henrikson - Adue Sweete Love, and his release took place on 2021. The album has got songs with a total duration of more than an hour. A compilation is a compilation of original music.

Between 1979 and 1985, Kleeer released seven albums on Atlantic, proving worthy of a spot on the venerable label’s impressive R&B roster. All of those LPs are collected on The Atlantic Collection 1979-1985, a new 8-CD box set from Cherry Red’s Robinsongs imprint. The eighth disc rounds up 15 bonus mixes encompassing single edits, instrumentals, and extended versions.
