With every new album from The Birthday Massacre, we see a band that has created not only its own distinct niche in the musical landscape, but also seems to have created its own world. This time, we play Hide and Seek in that world. The new album from The Birthday Massacre opens with rain, and ends with the sounds of waves; in between we are given songs of lost girls, lost love, lost time. The delicate interplay between Chibi’s vocals and the ambiance created by Rainbow, M. Falcore, Rhim, Owen & Nate is on full display. Dark new wave hooks and haunting synths turn sinister as Rainbow and Falcore’s guitars lead Hide and Seek into ever darker, ever more beautiful corners of The Birthday Massacre’s world.

“The night is short. It weighs heavy, but the light always awaits us.” Diamonds, the new album by The Birthday Massacre, contains an exploration of darkness as well as light, poison as well as its antidote. Within the songwriting, one can sense the passing of time, and the conflicts and resolutions that we can all feel. Nights end, and days resolve. If we look inside, we can find these precious emotions and conflicts. Every single one of them is valuable. Like the diamonds in the dark. And thus, we have "Diamonds" by the Birthday Massacre. The distinctive soaring synths and guitars, paired with our Chibi's beautiful familiar and reassuring voice, guides us all into the darkness as well as out to the light - guides us to mourn and to look inside, but also take our hand and invite us to dance, and remember - the night is short. It weighs heavy, but the light always awaits us.

Violet is an album by The Birthday Massacre. It was first released as an extended play (EP) in October 25, 2004, then commercially released in August 9, 2005 as a long play (LP) through Metropolis Records. The LP version included four re-recorded and slightly reworked tracks from their Nothing and Nowhere album: "Happy Birthday", "Horror Show", "Video Kid" and "The Dream".
