Dear Prof. Leary is not only a super-rare and highly touted collectors item but also one of the earliest and strangest examples of the upcoming Jazz/Rock Fusion recordings that would soon transform the Jazz world. Originally released in 1968 on MPS, Barney Wilen And His Amazing Free Rock Band s Dear Prof. Leary l.p. was a sextet of two trios, one playing the more Rock style and the other in the Jazz idiom, complete with two drummers, producing what can only be described as psychedelic Free-Jazz. Highlights include covers of The Beatles The Fool On The Hill , Ornette Coleman s Lonely Woman and Bobbie Gentry s Ode To Billie Joe , scattered amongst the originals.

TERRANOVA has built a reputation on propulsive, neon-clad house cuts with healthy doses of sonic adventure and fringe glamour - an interesting soundtrack choice for the new feature movie WILD from Nicolette Krebitz (selected for the 2016 Sundance Film Festival), but hardly a surprising one: the German actress and director is a known collaborator and good friend, which already led to her vocal cameo on the project's Kompakt debut "Hotel Amour" in 2012 (KOMPAKT 248 CD 95).

On the tenth CD I would like to give you the opportunity of becoming familiar with the styles of interpretation of Bethoven employed by the earlier Gewandhaus-Quartett line-ups.
One of the oldest recordings in existence of this ensemble dates from the year 1916. The Gewandhasu-Quartett of that time performed Beethoven's String Quartet in C sharp major, op. 131 in the line-up of Edgar Wallgandt and Karl Wolschke (violins), Carl Herrmann (viola) and the unforgotten Julius Klengel (violoncello).

Pauline is the musical portrait of the gifted, unconventional and unique woman in the songs of her husband Richard Strauss. Richard Strauss became acquainted with Pauline de Ahna - a valued young singer from Ingoldstadt, when they were just beginning to establish their musical careers. Richard took his first job as Kapellmeister in Weimar and took Pauline there. He also recommended her to Bayreuth, where she sang Elisabeth in Tannhäuser. From this common time the girls' flowers op. 22 come. We owe most of Pauline's songwriting to Richard Strauss, who often interpreted her husband's songs on concert tours.
