Recorded 31 May, 24 October 1973 in Polish Radio, Warsaw.
Although not as well-known in the West as his countrymen Adam Makowicz, Tomasz Stanko, and Michal Urbaniak, Wróblewski has been one of the dominant figures in Polish jazz since the late '60s. Wróblewski played clarinet, tenor sax, and piano while studying agriculture at a Polish technical college; his first professional experience was with Krzysztof Komeda in 1956. Beginning in 1958, he studied at the Higher School of Music in Krakow. That year, he was chosen by George Wein and Marshall Brown to play in the International Youth Band, which performed at the Brussels World's Fair and the Newport Jazz Festival…

If one was to interpret the whole output of EABS in general, an inquisitive listener would notice that each subsequent album stems from the previous one. The overtones are similar and they can be treated as variations on the same theme. The only thing that changes is the background of the story. It is all about life and death, the beginning and the end of the world, and the role of human beings entangled in all this existentially. Following the futurism lessons from Sun Ra, the band travels to the year 2061, continuing their mission in space in the company of a living legend, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski.

Debiut płytowy to złożona materia. Rozpoczyna płytową karierę w charakterze lidera, ale ciężko nazwać go przecież debiutantem. Nawet ci, którzy śledzą polską scenę jazzową od niechcenia, powinni doskonale zdawać sobie sprawę z talentu i dotychczasowych dokonań skrzypka.

It is an open secret that when recording an album, a producer often "thinks about the future" and uses the studio session to record much more material than what is strictly necessary for one album. This was also the case with the recording of "Saxesful", the 2018 album of the Polish trumpeter, composer, leader, publisher and record producer Piotr Schmidt. After a break related to the coronavirus pandemic, and after the recent death of his father, Polish jazz icon, Professor Andrzej Schmidt, whom I had the honor of meeting more than once, Piotr returned to the unreleased recordings of the "Saxesful" session and released a continuation of this album, partly in tribute to memory his father.

Weezdob Collective is one of the most interesting and distinguishable bands on the Polish jazz scene. Formed in 2014, the band is composed of leading young Polish jazz musicians. They received individual scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and won several awards as a band, including Grand Prix at the 54th Jazz on the Odra Festival, Grand Prix at the Lotos Jazz Festival during the 17th Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa, Grand Prix in the Jazz Fruit competition during the Mladi Ladi Jazz Festival in Prague, Grand Prix at the 18th National Polish Review of Young Jazz and Blues Bands in Gdynia and Grand Prix in the Blue Note Poznań Competition 2015. Weezdob Collective has been acclaimed by such renowned musicians as Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Zbigniew Namysłowski and Krzesimir Dębski. The fusion of five musical personalities resulted in creating an individualistic yet integrated collective of improvisers and composers. Their signature is the unconventional combination of the harmonica, saxophone and guitar, making the band one and only on the Polish scene.
