The Pyramid Code is a made-for-television documentary series of 5 episodes that explores the pyramid fields and ancient temples in Egypt, as well as ancient megalithic sites around the world, looking for clues to matriarchal consciousness, ancient knowledge and sophisticated technology in a golden age. The ancients knew about an Earth grid of powerful energies and believed they coalesced in designated patterns. Learn how such knowledge translated into an extraordinary mathematical precision, as revealed in monuments including the great pyramids of Egypt, Stonehenge, Teotihuacán and many others.

Cannonball Adderley is in generally good form on this 1974 recording. His Quintet at the time featured cornetist Nat Adderley, keyboardist Hal Galper, bassist Walter Booker and drummer Roy McCurdy. Guests on some selections include guitarist Phil Upchurch, keyboardist George Duke and (on "Bess, Oh Where's My Bess") veteran pianist Jimmy Jones. The emphasis is on recent group originals including the three part "Suite Cannon," two Galper compositions and Cannonball's "Pyramid." Nothing too earthshattering occurs but this is an improvement over many of Adderley's Capitol recordings.

There are times when merely seeing songs titles is enough to put The Fear into a reviewer. And so it is with Germany’s ORPH, wading into 2018 with an album worryingly entitled ‘The Pyramid Tears Of Simba’, and containing song titles such as ‘Lightning Pulse On Venus’ and ‘Heart Of A Window’. Throw in some high “concept”, and things could get hairy. Folk Rock, Prog Rock hairy. But in reality, this is more Dream Pop than Hobbit horror, and as a whole, it’s a consistent piece of work. Which is not saying there is a good album here. Far from it.

Rock / Psychedelic Rock / Acid Rock / Hard Rock

This grainy live recording captures psychedelic wrecking crew Iron Butterfly in a particularly sharp club performance from early in their career. Still months away from the release of their 1968 debut Heavy, Live at the Galaxy captures the band in their earliest, roughest form, working out songs heavy on organ stabs and blues riffing. The bootleg quality of the album is on par with other obscure, audience-recorded artifacts of its era by psych bands like the Electric Prunes and others, but the band transcends the lo-fi cloudiness of the album with spirited jamming that all but wrote the acid rock rule book, especially on high points such as "Iron Butterfly Theme."
