The instrumental rockers of the early '70s never were any good at dulling down their musical expertise; and, indeed, it's only a matter of seconds into their first and only live release – Live at the Rainbow – until one realizes just how talented Focus were. Jan Akkerman, named "World's Best Guitarist" by Melody Maker in 1973 ahead of Eric Clapton and others, was amazingly on form in this performance. Thijs Van Leer, chief songwriter and performer in the band, showcased his talents on flute, vocals, and organ with unparalleled finesse.

Frank Carter's breakthrough came as the energetic frontman of the nihilistic hardcore punk band Gallows. He left the band in 2011 to pursue a much more positive approach with his next project, Pure Love. This was also reflected in the sound of their only album "Anthems", which had clear influences from classic rock and power pop.

One could describe this formation as the Argentine equivalent of Chilean band Los Jaivas because of the progressive blend of folk and rock. Their history starts in january 1970 when during a music festival in Buenos Aires Arco Iris made impression with the legendary composition Blues De Dana. The following years Arco Iris released many beautiful albums. In the early Eighties Arco Iris disbanded for a while when a part of the band moved to California in order to continue their musical carreer over there. In the late Eighties Arco Iris re-started to make albums with a new sound and in 1997 the band got an award from California for their cultural contribution on Californian schools during 20 years.
