A Million In Prizes will be a double album chronicling Iggy's career from the first Stooges album in 1969 to the present day. It is the first time that Iggy's career has been compiled so comprehensively and the track listing is phenomenal; CD1 takes in the three Stooges albums; The Stooges, Fun House and Raw Power plus Kill City the album Iggy made with James Williamson in 1975, plus the classic early solo albums, Lust for Life and The Idiot. CD2 takes us up to the present day with all killers and no fillers and the added bonus of two duets - the wondrous 'Well Did You Evah' with Debbie Harry from the Red Hot and Blue charity album and 'Candy' with Kate Pierson from the B52's. This 2 CD collection goes deeper than the Virgin single disc release of Rude And Nude in 1996. Liner notes offer a career retrospective and are highlighted with quotes from some of music's most influential artists, such as David Bowie, Debbie Harry, Henry Rollins, Chrissy Hynde and many more.

Proto-Punk, Punk Rock

If you're willing to count his work in such early regional bands as the Prime Movers and the Iguanas, Iggy Pop has been playing rock & roll for over 40 years as this compilation hits the stores – meaning there are guys in big-league rock bands who've spent years trying to be Iggy but weren't even alive when the guy first started plugging into the Real O Mind. That, dear readers, is influence, and while the man has had more than his share of creative ups and downs over those four decades, one spin of A Million in Prizes: The Anthology tells you why Iggy has always mattered, and still does – he has never lost the ability to plug into the primal madness and furious belief that separates great rock & roll from ordinary stuff, and he can call up that near-demonic passion on a regular basis…

Shura emerged in 2014 as a pop star with a contradiction at her core. “Touch,” her lo-fi disco debut single, was a sort of “Dancing On My Own” for a new generation: an eminently danceable song about watching somebody else dance, about wanting to touch one another but being unable to because you’re paralysed by your own thoughts. Her 2016 LP Nothing’s Real was full of pop songs about unfulfilled promise and missed connections. With track titles like “2Shy” and “Tongue Tied,” she channelled the feathery soul of Janet Jackson and early Madonna while singing about being so engulfed in her own mind that she came apart from her body (the title track described the near-death pangs of a panic attack). If Nothing’s Real was all thought, the Manchester-born singer-songwriter’s follow-up forevher is all feeling.

EAC Rip | FLAC (image+.cue+log) - 671 MB | MP3 CBR 320 kbps (LAME 3.93) - 303 MB | Covers - 18 MB
Genre: Electronic, Downtempo, House, Ambient | RAR 3% Rec. | Label: Toshiba-EMI (VJCP-68738-39)

Hotel rarely shows, in any shape or form, traceable inspiration from the new wave and post-punk era Moby advertised as being in full effect. More surprising is that apart from the lovely ambient instrumentals that open and close it, the album is all valley and no peaks, suggesting that the shelving of his sampling device was the worst creative move he could've made. The first half contains simple - as in basic and/or emaciated, so we're talking poor - modern rock songs that tend to be anthemic and soul-searching in nature. Lead single "Beautiful" is one exception, a tongue-in-cheek thing Moby has imagined being sung by vacant celebrity couples. No matter how affable, vegan, liberal, bespectacled, or vertically challenged he is, the real irony is that a millionaire and former love interest of Natalie Portman has made a song of this kind (see also: Aerosmith's "Eat the Rich")…
