Abracadabra! The Complete Story of the Beatles' Revolver
Publisher: Popkult Books | ISBN: N/A | edition 2006 | PDF | 103 pages | 1,1 mb

A e-book telling the story of the Beatles 1966 album Revolver. Includes descriptions of London in the mid-60's, the Beatles' influences, and anecdotes from recording sessions. Includes footnotes and citations.
Revolver is often cited as one of the greatest albums in pop music history. In 1997 it was named the 3rd greatest album of all time in a 'Music of the Millennium' poll conducted by HMV, Channel 4, The Guardian and Classic FM. In 1998 Q magazine readers placed it at number 2, while in 2001 the TV network VH1 placed it at number 1. Revolver was also voted the best album of all time in the Virgin All Time Top 1,000 Albums. A PopMatters review described the album as "the individual members of the greatest band in the history of pop music peaking at the exact same time", while Ink Blot magazine claims it "stands at the summit of western pop music". Hard rock legend Ozzy Osbourne has declared Revolver to be his favourite British album of all time in interviews.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) represents the highpoint of the recording career of the Beatles. This is a detailed study of this album, and it demonstrates how serious discussion of popular music can be undertaken without failing either the approach or the music. Dr. Moore considers each song individually, tying his analysis to the recorded performance on disk, rather than the printed music. He focuses on the musical quality of the songs and the interpretations offered by a range of commentators. He also describes the context in which the album was written–both within the career of the group itself and within the development of popular music globally, both before and since.
