Native American rockers Redbone's A's and B's for Sony and RCA Records. 1970's 'Maggie' was their first hit in the US and Europe. This was quickly followed by 'The Witch Queen Of New Orleans', which was a huge world-wide smash. 'We Were All Wounded At Wounded Knee' was a Number 1 in Belgium and Holland, and 'Come And Get Your Love' was a Top 5 US hit. Fifty years on, this track is still used for ads of all descriptions! Redbone, led by original founding member Pat Vegas, continue to tour and record. Digitally remastered and slipcased, and with new notes. Redbone was a Los Angeles-based group led by Native American Pat and Lolly Vegas. They hit paydirt in 1974 with the million-seller 'Come and Get Your Love.' Lead singers Pat and Lolly Vegas had previously worked under their own names, appearing in the 1965 film It's a Bikini World prior to forming Redbone. Their first success as Redbone came in 1970 with 'Maggie' on Epic. 'The Witch Queen of New Orleans' did somewhat better the next year.

It may not be the "ultimate" collection of hits from the 1970's, but this ten disc set does indeed offer 198 of the songs that helped define the decade. Happily, they are all original recordings by the original artists, as they were heard on the radio. True, in a few cases that means the selections are "radio edits" (Rod Stewart's 1971 hit "Maggie May", for example, is missing the 30 second instrumental introduction that was included on the original album, but rarely played over the airwaves), but why quibble? The songs, though not necessarily remastered, all sound great, and the set includes some genuine treasures that have not (yet) been offered on other compilations. Highly recommended!

Two hundred hits on ten CDs, hundreds of hits and a lot of TV and news clips on five DVDs and then another book as reference book. It can not be on. The disadvantage of the Testament of the Seventies is that for a hundred euros a hefty investment. The advantage that you are now ready to be a hit with your Seventies Collection.
