A native of Italy, Renato Sellani has fast become one of the most popular jazz pianists in Europe. Japanese producer Tetsuo Hara discovered him and has recorded him regularly for his Venus label. With bassist Massimo Moriconi and drummer Massimo Manzi, Sellani mostly performs and records American tunes, but has also added Latin and Brazilian music to his roster.

According to Eugene Chadbourne of AllMusic, "Gianni Basso was one of the lights who began shining on the European jazz scene following the end of World War II". He began as a clarinetist before switching to saxophone, and became a renowned Italian jazz tenor saxophonist influenced by Stan Getz. A native of Italy, Renato Sellani has fast become one of the most popular jazz pianists in Europe. Japanese producer Tetsuo Hara discovered him and has recorded him regularly for his Venus label.

This album is a winner of Swing Journal 2008 Jazz Disc Best Production Award. Swing Journal Gold Disc! On this recording, Rea's piano is slightly placed to the right and Sellani's to the left, but their sounds merge and intersect with each other in the middle. The music they create together is beautiful, lyrical and emotional. What stands out is their "singing" quality which can be attributed to their Italian heritage. The heartwarming interaction of two great souls is captured with marvelous sonics: the pianos sound pure, natural, detailed and warm. This is a wonderful, wonderful piano duo album.

The players vary throughout the set — so that one number only features a duo with bass, but others feature larger lineups that include Gianni Basso on tenor, Dino Piana on trombone, Oscar Valdambrini on trumpet, Renato Sellani on piano, and Giancarlo Barigozzi on flute – all key Italian players of the 60s who really get room to sparkle on the record! Cerri's tone runs from smoothly jazzy on the group numbers to a bit more raw and personal on some of the more stripped-down ones – and titles include "Chit Car", "Blues For Jo", "Bassezza", "New Nova", "Stardust", and "Blues Dei Framasteni".
