Richard Tee appeared on more than 400 albums as a sideman, including longtime stints with Roberta Flack and Aretha Franklin. It should be no surprise, then, that the music heard on this last album before his death in 1993 should have elements of soul, funk, and gospel. Real Time is what could be called a swaying album. It can be danced to, but the performances are so low-key and sincere that dancers would only have to stay in place and sway to the music. In addition to his usual spells on the piano and keyboards, Tee sings in a slow, soulful voice that adds to the peacefulness of the proceedings.

Are drones supposed to be this shiny? Shouldn't they be somber and fuzzy, foggy and ghostly? Even the cover of Landings leans heavily in that direction, with its half-trees/half-clouds shapes barely emerging from a thick fog. And yet Richard Skelton's drones are anything but all that: luminous, sharp, soaring, heavenly. The man has a firm grasp of the instruments he uses (violins and cellos, percussion, acoustic guitar, maybe some E-bowed guitar), a clear vision of how to stack and arrange them into gorgeous aural landscapes, and the production chops to make it all work out without resorting to lo-fi "excuses"…

"What About Me?" is the 16th studio album by Kenny Rogers, released by RCA Nashville. The album's title track, "What About Me?", is sung in trio with R&B singer James Ingram and Rogers' former New Christy Minstrels bandmate turned solo star Kim Carnes, which is a love song that reached number one on the AC charts and was also a pop and country hit, giving co-writer Richard Marx his 1st #1 hit as a writer. Elsewhere on the album is "Two Hearts, One Love" by Byron Hill, "The Stranger" (a story song in the vein of Rogers' previous hits such as "The Gambler" and "Lucille"), "The Night Goes On" (a R&B influenced ballad) and "Crazy" (a song Rogers co-wrote with Richard Marx which is in the style of "Through the Years") that also charted and gave Rogers yet another #1 hit and Marx his 2nd #1 hit as a writer. Though this album didn't enjoy the success of his previous albums, "What About Me?" was a hit with its strongest showing being #9 on the Country music album charts during a chart run of nearly a year.

Bryson himself co-produced the record, as well as writing five of the eight songs himself and playing keyboards throughout the album.
