Secret Voyage is another kaleidoscopic musical journey through time and space, incorporating and rearranging traditional melodies from all over Europe, blending the "old" and contemporary. The brilliant guitar stylings of Ritchie Blackmore, the enchanting vocals and lyrics of singer/songwriter Candice Night and the saturation of authentic Renaissance instruments woven throughout the melodies, create a unique style of music they call Renaissance-FolkRock. Secret Voyage consists of twelve new tracks, recorded by Candice Night, Ritchie Blackmore and their Band Of Minstrels. This musical journey is inspired by nature and incorporates acoustic and electric guitars, strings, renaissance instruments and Candice Night s ethereal voice and mystical lyrics.
The 2012 box set The Beginning contains the two studio albums from Richie Blackmore's Night – Shadow of the Moon and Under a Violet Moon – and it also has DVDs recorded on the supporting tours for the albums. Jay Jesse Johnson (Triple J) reigns supreme on the guitar and proves that he is the real deal as he takes his "Damn Guitar" to new levels of insanity and beyond on this tremendous Grooveyard Records disc. A truly remarkable and prolific, hard-hitting bluesy heavy guitar masterpiece.
Fans of hard rock had to wait some years for the follow-up, though. And after another long wait, they're back again with "Forgive & Forget". Band is back with a 3rd album in the same style as the previous ones, Aces High play hard rock in the same vein as MSG, Rainbow, etc. … The album - very solid hard rock. Vocalist Bjørn Andersen has a very distinct voice, somewhere between that of Ian Gillan and Biff Byford, the guitars are solid, with strong hooks that focus more on the song than riffing away into oblivion, whilst the hammond organ adds a Deep Purple vibe to many of the tracks … and once again lots of Richie Blackmore vibes in the guitar work.
