Ride The Lyrics

Three discs Ride's history is broken down to an A-list (OX4: The Best of Ride), a collection of outtakes (Firing Blanks), and a disc that documents their 1992 Reading Festival appearance. It's true that they can't make everyone perfectly happy, but just who this box set is aiming to please is unclear. It can't be die-hard fans and it most certainly can't be newcomers. Most diehards won't want the best-of disc – it's someone else's idea of Ride's best moments, not their own.

Eight CD set. Remastered From The Original Dunhill/Abc Master Tapes. Steppenwolf was formed in 1967 in LA by John Kay (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Goldy McJohn (organ, piano) and Jerry Edmonton (drums) who were previously members of the Canadian band The Sparrows. They were joined by Michael Monarch (lead guitar) and Rushton Moreve (bass). The band signed to Dunhill/ABC the same year and with producer Gabriel Mekler they recorded their self-titled debut album. The band were propelled to success with their classic single 'Born To Be Wild' (a #2 hit in the USA) and became even wider known when the track was featured, along with their version of 'The Pusher' in the classic 1969 counterculture film Easy Rider. 'The Second' was released in October '68 and featured the hit single 'Magic Carpet Ride' (another US #2 hit).

2CD set. Remastered in 2015, and on CD for the first time ever officially with rare bonus track "Treetrunk"! Two post-Jim Morrison albums from 1971 and 1972 by the surviving three members.

Second album by Metallica, "Ride The Lightning", was recorded in three weeks with producer Flemming Rasmussen at the Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark. The artwork, based on a concept by the band, depicts an electric chair in the midst of a thunderstorm. The title was taken from a passage in Stephen King's novel The Stand. Although rooted in the thrash metal genre, the album showcased the band's musical maturity and lyrical sophistication. This was partly because bassist Cliff Burton introduced the basics of music theory to the rest of the band and had more input in the songwriting. Instead of relying strictly on fast tempos as on Kill 'Em All, Metallica broadened its approach by employing acoustic guitars, extended instrumentals, and more complex harmonies. 24-bit remastered reissue of the Chicago rock act's 1971 sophomore album includes two bonus tracks, 'Superman' (Single Mono Version) & 'Melody', packaged in a digipak.
