Gluten Is My Bitch offers a brutally honest and hilarious take on the realities of living a gluten-free life. As the 18 million gluten-intolerants and 3 million celiac disease sufferers in the United States can attest, living gluten-free isn’t a lot of fun, but author April Peveteaux has at least managed to make it funny.

Mutters Maske aka Mother's Mask is a free adaptation of the film Opfergang (1944) aka The Great Sacrifice of Veit Harlan. Using motives from Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du mal aka Flowers of Evil Schlingensief draws the drama of a family settled in the Ruhr aristocracy. The hated mainstream cinema is lead ad absurdum by using and overstraining it's rule observance. An important moment, also for Schlingensief's later theatre work: he makes acquaintance with the stylistic device of affirmation. By a voluntary ridiculousness he reduces the tragicomedy to the level of a daily soap.

Horrorstor: A Novel

Grady Hendrix "Horrorstor: A Novel"
Quirk Books | English | September 23, 2014 | ISBN: 1594745269 | 240 pages | azw, epub, lrf, mobi | 16,6 mb

Beneath the quirky trappings of Grady Hendrix's new novel lies a conventional but well-told horror/suspense story. Protagonist Amy works at the recently-opened local branch of Orsk, a trendy furniture store whose similarities to Ikea are entirely parodic. Despite Orsk's upbeat "happy employee, happy customer" rhetoric, something is seriously wrong: mysterious vandalism is occurring every night while the store is empty, and the higher-ups aren't happy.
