Jordan Robert Kirk has been touring and playing shows since 2014, predominantly in West Texas, but in other regions and states as well. Jordan draws much inspiration from his upbringing – he was raised working on a cotton farm in Crosby County, his dad is a third generation farmer and great-grandson of Hank Smith, the first settler on the South Plains. With a deep baritone that draws comparisons all over the map, and influences in bluegrass, honky tonk, gospel, and the blues, you might hear any or all of these influences in his music. Fresh out of the studio with a new single “Pine Box” and an album “Listening for the Sound” due out January 2019, JRK plans on continuing to expand his audience into the rest of Texas and beyond.

By definition zombies would be physically and behaviourally just like us, but not conscious. This currently very influential idea is a threat to all forms of physicalism, and has led some philosophers to give up physicalism and become dualists. It has also beguiled many physicalists, who feel forced to defend increasingly convoluted explanations of why the conceivability of zombies is compatible with their impossibility. Robert Kirk argues that the zombie idea depends on an incoherent view of the nature of phenomenal consciousness.

Recorded in 1973, this is yet another criminally underappreciated Rahsaan Roland Kirk recording from the last phase of a remarkable career. This is perhaps Kirk's most experimental recording in that it involves his most involved performing on multiple horns and flutes including his infamous and wonderful nose flute and working with drones on a more surface level. Given Kirk's system of playing three horns at once, the drone horn was always a part of his sonic architecture.

Produced by legendary Los Angeles guitarist and close friend Michael Landau, My Turn finds Fletcher stretching out instrumentally and exploring new sonic territories on the guitar. In addition Kirk also makes his surprising vocal debut on two songs which include the Jimmy Reed classic “Found Love”, and an ultra funky version of Sly Stone’s “Let Me Have It All“. This is a project that is very near to Kirk, and one that he just absolutely felt compelled to make. So with the intuitively selected album title of My Turn, it would only be appropriate to let Kirk have the last word: ”I am so proud of this record. Though it took a while it was so much fun to get together with my best friends and just play! So here you go and God bless you all.”

Donny Hathaway would have been 65 years old on October 1,2010. Although the passing of this visionary and multi-talented artist left a significant void, his pervasive influence leaves an indelible mark on popular music. Donny's genius as a vocalist, pianist, composer and arranger was evident in his ability to combine his unparalleled musical gifts with a deep spirituality that permeated all of his endeavors. There could be no better standard bearer for Hathaway's work than tenor saxophon'ist Kirk whalum, whose work has similarly crossed the boundaries between R&B, gospel and jazz with an emotional immediacy that is beyond compare.
