Themes is one of the most entertaining and thorough of any of Vangelis' collections, with excerpts spanning such albums as Opera Sauvage, China, and the ever-popular Chariots of Fire release from 1981. Most of the selections from Themes speak for Vangelis' movie contributions, including the infamous "Chariots of Fire" track as well as the lonesome-sounding theme from Missing and the powerful openings from Mutiny on the Bounty. With this music, Vangelis has implemented some variations in rhythm and some noticeable fluctuation in his synthesizer work, making these tracks much more colorful and animated than his new age meanderings of the '70s.

Robbie's second album, released in 1981, had to suffer from the comparison with his fantastic first album and was less succesful. The style on this one is a continuation of the first recording : "Brooklyn girls" sounds like "Hot rod hearts" part 2, same for "Free fallin" ("Lonely Runner" part 2), or "I'll be the fool again" ("I'm no stranger" part 2). My personal favourites are "Are you ready for love" and "Saturday Night", which are excellent.

Metallic Spheres by The Orb and David Gilmour has been reimagined and remixed as Metallic Spheres In Colour. Of this new reimagining, producer Youth says: 'The idea for Metallic Spheres In Colour, was that Alex Paterson (founder of The Orb) could have done more on the first version, and he didn't really have the opportunity because we had a philosophy of making the music like the Blade Runner soundtrack meets Wish You Were Here. So, I asked him why don't we remix it and make it like an Orb classic? And in doing that, it's almost like a completely different album'.
