Ryuichi Sakamoto

A compilation album of songs provided by musicians from Japan and abroad as a memorial work to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Micro Ambient Music” (music that brings silence using non-instrumental sounds).

First collaborative album for 13 years from veteran female singer/songwriter Taeko Onuki and Ryuchi Sakamoto. In the early 1970s Onuki was a member of Sugar Babe along with Tatsuro Yamashita, during which time she first met and performed with Sakamoto. Simple album of Onuki's voice accompanied by Sakamoto's piano. Most compositions written by Sakamoto. Undertook a Japan tour in November/December 2010.

Along with fellow Yellow Magic Orchestra member and frequent collaborator Alva Noto, Sakamoto has created a gripping soundtrack that is sure to be a treat for the winter crowds. Bryce Dessner (writer for Kronos Quartet and the LA Phil) also supplies additional music.

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the thriller Beckett. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Ryuichi Sakamoto (The Last Emperor, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, The Revenant, Little Buddha, Snake Eyes).
